Accommodation, meals, prices

In the fall of 2009, Queens College opened its first dormitory, The Summit. Known as Summit Apartments, it can accommodate up to 500 students. Summit received LEED Gold certification, a rating established by the U.S. Green Building Council, thanks to its eco-friendly design, use of sustainable strategies for water and energy.

The college administration strives to make the campus welcoming to students. More than 100 clubs and teams were organized - from the "Scientific Organization" of students from among minorities to clubs of fencing, ecology, martial arts, theater club. Queens sponsors men's and women's teams and has some of the best sports facilities in the metropolitan area. The college continues to open new cafes, canteens, recreation areas, implements various improvement projects.

Students have access to many support programs at the Academic Counseling Center. Staff are committed to helping students progress during college: help with enrollment, credit transfer, and the GPA calculator.

  • Students from all over the country and the world are attracted to study at the Aaron Copland School of Music. Among its teachers, graduates are famous composers, conductors, performers who have received more than 100 awards, many nominations for Grammys.
  • Academic programs are divided into four divisions that offer day and evening courses: humanities, mathematics, natural and social sciences, education. The college offers several new undergraduate and graduate majors, including a bachelor's degree in Chinese, business administration, a master's degree in creative writing, translation, photonics, and risk management.
  • Queens College participates in CUNY's Macaulay Honors College, a challenging program available to the most gifted students. It also offers qualified students their own honours programs in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences. The center with lounges, laboratories is available for students participating in Honors.
  • The college's centers and institutes serve the wider community, solving the most important problems of society, including cancer, pollution, racism. The Center for Visual and Performing Arts unites the college's academic faculties in the field of art (music, drama, theater, dance, art, media studies) and its museums (Godwin-Turnbach Museum, Queens College Center for the Arts, Louis Armstrong House Museum). The famous series "Evening Readings" gathers on campus some of the world's most famous writers.

Facilities and equipment at The City University of New York Queens College

The beautiful campus includes an 80-acre plot surrounded by trees and open lawns. The college boasts modern computer labs, an impressive music building, and the six-story Rosenthal Library. The main building for classes, Powdermaker Hall, is equipped with the latest technology. Due to its strong commitment to sustainability, Queens College was included in the first edition of the Princeton Review, which presented a list of "green" colleges.

On campus there is a fitness center, wireless Internet, a bookstore, a library, an art department. Aaron Copland School has its own music library, rehearsal studios. There are recreation areas where you can catch your breath, indoor and outdoor seating areas where you can read, check emails, have a cup of coffee.

Scholarships The City University of New York Queens College

Students who demonstrate good academic performance and financial needs apply for merit-based scholarships ("internal scholarships") offered by the Queens College Foundation. Applications are reviewed twice a year, in October and March, for remuneration with payment in the next semester.

Queens College students are eligible to receive the CUNY Award, participate in regional, national competition programs, and receive payments from private sources of funding. Selection criteria vary depending on the award, with some limited to certain specialties, average grades, or other personal characteristics. To help students find scholarships and awards from other organizations, the university maintains an extensive database.

College students successfully win major national scholarships: Watson, Marshall, Fulbright, Truman, Mellon, Goldwater and many others.
