Bard College is an independent four-year liberal arts and sciences college founded in 1860. There are now approximately 1,900 students enrolled in Annandale undergraduate programs, more than 600 graduate students plus about 1,200 early colleges students and 2,500 students at Bard's global affiliates. The total number of students in the Bard Network is approaching 6,000. The Hudson Valley College has earned an excellent reputation for excellence in science, civic engagement, commitment to enrich culture, community life, democratic discourse, and educate the opinion leaders of tomorrow.

First-year students are provided with housing in one of the residences:

• South campus;
• Kruger village;
• North campus;
• Reznik Commons;
• Central campus.

Each room on campus has an XL double bed with a mattress, a table, a chair, at least a chest of drawers for each resident. All hostels have Wi-Fi throughout the territory, a kitchen is shared by the residents of the house. These kitchens are equipped with fridge / freezer, hob / oven, microwave, sink, counter / cupboards. Residents are responsible for cleaning public kitchens. All residents have access to a laundry service

Bard Houses provide students with support, intellectual, social connections, and the opportunity to meet teachers outside the classroom from the moment they arrive at Bard. All incoming students are assigned to one of four "houses" (communities), each named after a distinguished alumnus or "friend" of the college, led by home professors who organize events within and between communities, with an emphasis on informal settings.

The college sponsors intercollegiate programs in football, cross-country, volleyball, swimming, squash, tennis, lacrosse, athletics, and basketball. Sports teams compete under the auspices of the National Student Sports Association (NCAA Division III).

The college offers a variety of extracurricular activities from fitness to yoga. Aerobics classes include Zumba, Combat Cardio Metaphysics and TRX Workout, CPR / AED Certification Courses, Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training are available.

The countryside of the college allows for outdoor activities: jogging, cross-country and alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, ice skating. Nearby there are conditions for golf, bowling, horse riding.

Bard regularly offers public lectures, film screenings, performances on multiple campus sites, and the Fischer Center for music, theater and dance, and sports field activities. Outdoor activities in the Hudson Valley, cultural activities and trips to historic sites complement the student's leisure time.

Life on the Annandale campus is vibrant: continuous, varied student activities, numerous cultural and recreational opportunities. Students choose from over a hundred active clubs on campus. The college hosts a bard music festival every summer.

Students take a course reflecting the diverse traditions of teaching, research, reflection, artistic expression, are engaged in existential philosophy, theories of human behavior and society, the creation of art, the study of the humanities, science, nature, history.
• The student to faculty ratio for undergraduate studies at Barda is 1:10.
• Distinguished faculty members at Bard College include four MacArthur Fellows: poet Anne Lauterbach, writer and memoirist Norman Manea, painter, multimedia artist Judy Pfaff and journalist Mark Danner, soprano Dawn Upshaw, journalist Ian Buruma, composers Joan Tower and George Tsontakis, poet Robert Kelly , writers Luc Sante, Francine Proz. Over the years, four Nobel laureates in literature have taught at Barda: Saul Bellow, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Jose Saramago and Orhan Pamuk.

The campus covers more than 4 km² with fields and woodland bordering the Hudson River in New York State, and includes state-of-the-art facilities: Center for Science and Computing Gabriel H. Rome, Herbert J. Kaidan, Frank Gary Center, Richard B Performing Arts Center Fisher. Many facilities are clustered in the center of the campus - the library, student center, dining room, most classrooms, others within walking or cycling distance.

The campus is a hub where international students explore the rich natural and cultural life of the Hudson Valley, and can also travel by car or train to New York City, 145 km south.

The farm, located on the northern edge of the Hudson Valley campus, provides organic food to the campus community, demonstrating Bard's commitment to sustainability. Guided by national organic standards in moving towards a no-till strategy, the college strives to use practices that improve soil health, capture more carbon, and increase resilience to climate change.

The Stevenson Sports Center and outdoor areas provide many opportunities for face-to-face and recreational activities. Face-to-face programs include football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, kickball, badminton, and squash. At the club level, Bard offers rugby, fencing, equestrianism and Ultimate Frisbee.

Applicants fill out an application on the university website and provide documents:

• Two Recommendations - From an English or Liberal Arts, Mathematics or Science Tutor;
• Counselor recommendation and school report;
• High School Discharge;
• Results of standardized testing. The university does not require SAT / ACT results, but if you provide them, they will be taken into account when making an admission decision;
• Portfolio and awards are not required, but desirable.

For international students, an International Student Financial Aid Application must be completed on the Bard Portal along with the application. All students access their Bard Portal by email after submitting a general application to Bard College.

The deadline for submitting financial aid forms for international students is November 1.
