The Catholic school of Thornton College was founded by the nuns of the Order of Jesus and Mary in 1917 - today it is one of the most famous and prestigious women's boarding schools in Great Britain. The campus is located in the southeast of England (Buckinghamshire county, Milton Keynes) and is designed for only 350-400 pupils: it forms a warm, friendly, chamber atmosphere, gives teachers the opportunity to practice an individual approach to each student.

Thornton College consistently occupies high places in national rankings - graduates demonstrate a true love for study and a desire for knowledge, self-improvement, showing excellent results in examinations. Independent Inspection of Private Institutions in Great Britain ISC also favorably regards the school as a comfortable educational institution with effective educational programs and a personal approach to every child.

Classes in Thornton College are equally productive in classrooms and individually, girls constantly work with social projects, prepare research papers. The school specializes in high school and GCSE education, allowing graduates to receive valuable prestigious certificates and to continue their education in the Sixth Form and universities.

According to the statistics of 2015, 97% of the pupils successfully passed GCSE exams, having received points A * -C, and more than half of female students became excellent pupils. HIGH SCHOOL

The curriculum of high school students fully complies with the standards of the British national system. The program is quite intensive and includes a large list of academic subjects: in this way schoolgirls can not only develop comprehensively, but also determine the most interesting and priority directions for themselves (this is useful in the A-level program and especially for entering the university). Classes on average include 10-14 people, which gives the teacher the opportunity to pay each student the right amount of attention, to monitor her progress and achievements.

Three comfortable and cozy residences are built for girls, named after the famous families of the city and region: Ingleton, Tyrell and Cavendish. Each house is fully furnished and equipped with the necessary equipment: there are student kitchens (you can prepare a snack, something sweet for tea, snacks), living rooms with TV and DVD. The rooms are designed for several people. The entire territory of Thornton College is guarded around the clock, and educators and curators who live in homes with students are always ready to solve any issue.

There are often sports, intellectual and creative competitions between the houses: they usually take place in the evening, so they serve as an excellent rest and relaxation after school and homework.

Activities Thornton College

Sports and exercise play an important role in the lives of Thornton College students: physical education is necessarily included in the curriculum of each year plus numerous sections, clubs and studios. Girls constantly participate in competitions of regional and national level, winning and taking prizes: sports help not only to develop strength and endurance, but also to become more responsible, successful, to develop leadership skills, responsibility, ability to work in a team.

Thornton College has always been active in charity - and the students take direct participation in this process. For example, girls regularly participate in festivals and concerts on a charitable basis: money for tickets is transferred to the appropriate charitable funds and organizations.

Facilities and equipment at Thornton College

The territory of the school campus is great - there was a place for educational buildings, comfortable residences, and for numerous sports fields and recreational areas and team games. For relaxation students are also provided with cozy living rooms: they are in all houses and large buildings. There is an own Arts Center, numerous scientific laboratories (practical classes and work on personal research are conducted here), a multipurpose sports complex and the newest computer center, a large library. The territory has its own theater and a small chapel, there is a swimming pool and several courts for tennis.

The Thornton College Administration always encourages prospective students and their parents to visit the campus during one of the many Open House days organized throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to personally inspect the campus, residences and educational buildings, to communicate with teachers, administrators, educators and the director, to get acquainted with the content of the curriculum. In general, the requirements for students entering the school are standard - a completed application form is considered up to 4 weeks.
