Description of NIT — Northern Institute of Technology Management

  • Founded: in 1998
  • Location: Hamburg, Germany
  • Type of institution: private university
  • Total number of students: 70
  • Type of training: mixed
  • Language of instruction: English.

NIT – Northern Institute of Technology Management, was founded in 1998. It was started by professors from the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) with the support of the Körber Foundation. Initially, the university was called the Northern Technological Institute, but in December 2007, the direction "Management" was added here, and the name was changed to the current one.

Here, engineers from all over the world can significantly improve their skills, learning to work, including as managers - competently and responsibly. Every year the university accepts about 30-35 new students: the total number of students at the same time is about 70 people, a third of them are girls, 2/3 are foreigners. About 30 professors teach at the university (including visiting specialists: Great Britain, Spain, USA), of which about ten are researchers of the "mother" TUHH). The total number of graduates has already exceeded 550 people.

The university's motto is "Be a change", and this fully reflects its modern mission. The purpose of the Institute is to teach specialists to be far-sighted, to use technologies for the benefit of man and the environment, to keep up with sustainable development, to follow a respectful attitude to the whole world.

For students, this is an opportunity to increase their value in the modern professional world, increase competencies, become more flexible, ready to adapt to current digital changes. The university provides an opportunity to conduct master's research in the field of technology management: it can be a Masters degree, an MBA or a double diploma (MBA in NIT + MSC in TUHH). There are functions of individual training, there are short programs of professional certificate and certification (for example, "Innovation Manager").

  • Start of classes: in October
  • Language of instruction: English.

Students can choose a convenient direction and type of program:

What is especially convenient is that general classroom lessons (lectures) are held on more unloaded evening hours (on Fridays, for example) and on weekends. This makes it possible to combine high-quality education with personal and family life, not to break away from the main place of work.

One of the main elements of the course is the MyProject module. On it, students create their own projects, training entrepreneurial thinking and embodying their own business ideas. Only foreign lecturers/professors from around the world are involved in this module.

The NIT Toolbox Educational Institute will also be useful, offering additional vocational training courses (operating since 2014). The Institute can be booked for internal education, trainings and courses of individual companies, international corporations. NIT Toolbox conducts educational seminars, lectures, training courses on the following topics:
