Near East University (Yakın DoÄŸu Üniversitesi, NEU) was founded in 1988 in the territory of Northern Cyprus and is a fairly large higher educational institution. The faculty at NEU is formed by educators from more than 25 countries, teaching more than 25,000 students from all over the world. The University is one of the three best educational institutions in Northern Cyprus and is a member of the following associations:
- International University Association (IAU)
- Association of European Universities (EUA)
- Federation of Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW).
NEU is accredited by the International Leadership and Enterprise Development Organization (JCI) and the International Society for the Training of Engineering (IGIP).

The tuition fee at the university includes accommodation in a hostel, three meals a day and household services (water, electricity, heating, cleaning).
Activities Near East University
Three museums are open for visiting at the university: the classic car museum, the art and communication museums.

A hospital has been established at the NEU School of Medicine, which is the best education and research clinic in the region.
The university provides great opportunities for sports - for example, the only Olympic-sized pool in Northern Cyprus is located in NEU.

Admission dates and extra charges
The school has a two-semester academic year. Autumn semester lasts from October to January, spring semester from March to June.

- Insurance and student fee = 250 € (magistracy, graduate school)

To enter the university you must provide:
- 12 photos (3x4)
- Secondary Education Document
- Passport and its copy
- List of all completed disciplines and grades.
All applicants need to pass an English proficiency test.
