Frederick University was established in 1965, but received university status only in 2007, previously functioned as a college. University campuses are located in the two largest cities in Cyprus - Nicosia and Limassol.

The university offers a wide selection of specialties in the field of media, art, architecture, business, science, engineering, healthcare, humanities and education.

One of the main principles of the educational institution is a guide to scientific activity. This problem is solved thanks to laboratories equipped to the latest standards. Frederick University invests several million annually to modernize laboratories and purchase the necessary equipment. Over the past 10 years, the university has taken part in 100 scientific research organized by the UN, EU, and the Foundation for the Promotion of Scientific Research.

The university is a member of the IAESTE organization, which is engaged in student exchange programs, and a member of the Erasmus + program. Thanks to this, students can go on a summer internship (6-8 weeks) or on an annual practical education in other universities.

Accommodation, meals, prices

On the campus in Nicosia, modern student dormitories are being built, located very close to the main building of the university and the building of the school of architecture. In Limassol, the university has exclusive access to a number of modern rooms in the brand new Apollonia student dormitories, which are located near the study area.

The university staff will help students in finding suitable housing: from rooms and apartments to apartments and houses for several people. The student will be provided with a list of verified landlords and will be helped to draw up documents.

The campuses have four cafeterias: three in Nicosia and one in Limassol. They always offer hot lunches, snacks, fresh salads and fruits, local drinks. The areas are prepared for a large number of students, creating a pleasant atmosphere for relaxation and communication.

Activities Frederick University

The university is a member of the Cyprus University Sports Federation (CUSF) and has a long history of participation and victories in championships. The institution has 12 men's and women's teams in many sports: football, basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton, table tennis, judo and others. Students have the opportunity to practice their favorite sport or try a new activity under the supervision and guidance of qualified coaches. On campus and on the basis of partner organizations, classes are held in such areas as fitness boxing, circuit cardio education, kayaking, scuba diving, rock climbing, yoga and shooting. 

The university provides an opportunity to develop individual hobbies in student clubs. Every year, the Day of Associations is organized, when students can get information about the activities of various clubs, enroll in them or initiate the creation of new ones. The SSWS department issues certificates of participation to students who actively participated in student clubs during their studies: such documents are very useful, they can improve the portfolio before starting a career.

Each semester, the educational institution organizes various educational, recreational, social and sports activities. Participation in them will not only help students enjoy a more fulfilling student life, but also develop personal, academic and professional skills

Facilities and equipment at Frederick University

Frederick University has two campuses: the main campus is located in Nicosia and the secondary campus in Limassol.

The Nicosia campus, located in the island's capital, offers students modern facilities and a large study area in the middle of the historic city. Stores, restaurants, bars, art centers and other public places are within easy reach, as the educational area is located minutes from the center of the metropolis and adjacent to the old part of Nicosia.

The educational site includes several buildings within walking distance of each other. They are equipped with:

One academic year consists of two semesters: fall and spring. Each semester is 13 weeks long, excluding vacations and final exams. Tuition dates may vary depending on the program selected.

Step-by-step admission process:

  • Program selection, clarification of deadlines and verification of requirements,
  • Filling out and submitting an online application in English or Greek,
  • Receiving an invitation to campus to pass possible tests: an interview, a test or a conversation with the admissions committee. Employees will help you apply for a visa and inform you about the rules of the orientation week, select suitable accommodation and arrange a transfer, if necessary.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Application Deadlines:

For admission to undergraduate programs, international applicants will need:

  • Personal documents: passport, health insurance, visa or residence permit,
  • Certificate of completion of complete secondary education,
  • Certificate confirming the level of English proficiency not lower than B2.

Prospective postgraduate students should provide:

  • Personal documents: passport, health insurance, visa or residence permit,
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university,
  • A cover letter explaining the desire to enroll in the selected program,
  • A curriculum vitae indicating previous education,
  • A brief personal statement of up to two pages describing goals, professional and research experience,
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic and professional mentors,
  • Copies of all certificates and diplomas,
  • A certificate proving English language proficiency of at least C1 level.
  • All documents must be translated into English or Greek and notarized.

Scholarships Frederick University

Frederick University offers full and partial scholarships based on athletic and academic achievement. Students who are part of the sports teams of the institution and participate in the championships of the Cyprus University Sports Federation (CUSF) are eligible for sports awards.

The institution also awards new full-time students based on their high school performance. The scholarship extends to the first year of study, from the second year students participate in the scholarship program "Scholarships during academic study": this award is based on the overall academic performance for each semester (CGPA) and ranges from 5% to 50% of the cost of tuition.
