Wilfrid Laurier International College (WLIC) is an international college that prepares students from Canada and other countries for admission to the university.

WLIC is part of the university of the same name and is located on one of its campuses, in Bratford. Here are the programs of preparation for admission to the bachelor's degree, which are adapted for foreign students. For more than 100 years of providing quality education, success among local and international students, entering many national rankings, the college has become one of the leading educational institutions in the field of international education. UTP Stage I, University Transfer Program: First Phase

  • Age - from 16 years,
  • The term of study is two semesters.

The UTP Stage I program is designed to prepare students for admission to undergraduate programs in the faculties of humanities and natural sciences, business and economics, and social sciences.

The curriculum consists of eight courses, after which the student will be able to move on to the second stage of preparation. Depending on the goals, students need to choose eight areas of study and score at least 70% in each of them:

  • Interdisciplinary Special Topics,
  • Algebra: initial analysis,
  • Business Management,
  • Fundamentals of Mathematics,
  • Introduction to computers and their applications,
  • Introduction to computational concepts and algorithms,
  • Introduction to Economics,
  • Introduction to Mathematics,
  • Introduction to Philosophical Reasoning,
  • Introduction to University Writing,
  • World problems.

Upon successful completion, students are eligible to move on to the following second-stage training majors:

  • Business Technology Management,
  • Informatics
  • Data Science,
  • Economics
  • Economics and Accounting,
  • Economics and Financial Management,
  • Economics combined with another undergraduate program,
  • Faculty of Arts,
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences,
  • Faculty of Humanities,
  • Financial mathematics,
  • User experience design.

UTP Stage II, University Transfer Program: Second Phase

  • Age - from 17 years,
  • The term of study is one year.

The second stage of preparation for admission to the university takes place in the following specializations:

  • Arts: Faculty of Arts,
  • Business and Economics: Business Technology Management, Accounting, Financial Management, or another program combined with Economics,
  • Humanities and Social Sciences: Criminology, Game Design and Development, Medical Research, Health Administration, Psychology,
  • Humanities: User Experience Design, Faculty of Humanities,
  • Natural sciences: biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and financial mathematics, psychology and others.

In the course of training in the chosen direction, students are offered specialized courses of introduction to the specialty, in-depth study of important areas and the support of qualified teachers both in the classroom and outside it.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The college campus, shared with the university, offers students several residential buildings.

  • Grand River Hall

A five-storey building for 150 students, with suites for 3-7 students, accommodated in single and double rooms. On the first three floors of the building there are common areas: administrative offices, classrooms, a library, laundries.

  • Lucy Marco Place

One of the largest buildings of the student residence, offering 112 single rooms and 28 luxury apartments. Each quadruple suite is equipped with two bathrooms, a kitchen with appliances, a living room. The laundry room is located in the basement of the building, and all floors can be reached by elevator.

  • Post House

Located in the city center, the three-storey residential building offers 57 single rooms in suites, designed for three, four or seven residents.

  • Wilkes House

The residence is located in the Heritage Quarter, in close proximity to the Post House residential building and the Student Center. Wilkes House is a historic building named after one of the founding families of the city. After a complete reconstruction of the building, the residence has 38 single rooms and a double room in seven apartments. Large suites that can accommodate up to eight people are equipped with everything you need: furnished bedrooms, bathrooms, work areas, two refrigerators and much more. The laundry room is located on the third floor.

  • Expositor Place

Five floors of living quarters for 216 students, which are accommodated in suites for 3-7 people. There is a laundry room, student and conference rooms, underground parking and small grocery stores.

WLIC employees can offer alternative places to live off-campus: hotels, apartments, apartments and houses for rent, host families, city residences and others. The student should leave an application with requirements for price, location and number of neighbors - the college will definitely select suitable housing for him.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

The minimum age for applicants is 16 years. All applicants are subject to the following requirements:

  • By the level of language proficiency: IELTS (from 5.0), TOEFL iBT (from 60), Cambridge Exam (from B2), Duolingo (from 85) and other equivalent test certificates,
  • By level of education: successful completion of 12 classes of secondary school or equivalent (for candidates from Russia - 11 classes of school and a certificate with an average score of at least 3.75 in four subjects, at least 4 points in mathematics),
  • According to the documents: passport, medical insurance, visa or residence permit for long-term study in Canada.

You can go to college at the beginning of each semester.

Scholarships Wilfrid Laurier International College

Wilfrid Laurier International College provides two types of scholarships to its students:

  • Scholarships and financial aid for a specific country - up to 6123 $CAD,
  • Ambassadorial scholarship in the amount of 6805 $CAD - for participation in marketing, advertising activities of the institution in the learning process.
