Description of University of Chester Summer Camp

  • Location: Chester, England
  • Age of students: 11-17 years
  • Total number of children in the camp: 200
  • Language of instruction: English.

Chester summer camp is located in one of the most beautiful historical cities in England - Chester in Cheshire. Chester has many attractions, a Roman amphitheater, walls with ancient towers and gates complement the traditional atmosphere of this ancient city. Chester is compact and easy to get around on foot. There are medieval Victorian buildings, the famous Chester Rows - pedestrian paths that form two-level rows of shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants. Just 10 miles from the centre is the UK's largest designer outlet shopping centre. Chester is well connected with many major cities in the UK: Manchester, Liverpool, London.

Chester accepts children under the age of 12, provided that group leaders take full responsibility for them throughout the program. There are 10 children per adult if there are those under the age of 12.

Classic Programme

  • Age: 11-17 years

  • Classes: up to 15 people.

The Classic program includes full board on site or accommodation in a host family, vocational training, as well as:

  • Full day excursions: Wirral Peninsula, York, Wales, Liverpool
  • Half-day trip to Chester.

With a longer stay, children additionally have time to visit the Cheshire Oaks outlet by bus.

Premium Programme

In addition to active training and full board, the two-week program includes a half-day excursion to Chester with a visit to shopping centers, the Blue Planet Aquarium, and full-day excursions:

  • Virral Peninsula, boat cruise on the Mersey River, visit to the submarine museum
  • York and York Castle Museum
  • Wales and Carmarfon Castle
  • Trip to Liverpool by train.

During the three weeks of stay at the camp, students will additionally visit Manchester with a day excursion, Chester Zoo.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Six dormitories are equipped with single rooms with bathrooms and standard rooms with shared showers, toilets on the floor. Residents are provided with bed linen, towels, cleaning services weekly. The laundry room, equipped with washing machines and dryers, is open every day from 8:00 to 21:30.

Host families are 35 minutes from campus. Students live in single, double rooms, are provided with tickets for 7 days.

The cafeteria and dining room of the campus satisfy any gastronomic, dietary needs of the residents.

Activities University of Chester Summer Camp

For all the time of stay in the camp shift, many activities are held, regular of which are:

  • Sports activities: football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, badminton, tennis.

During a few weeks of stay in Chester, students will visit many attractions:

  • Manchester Cathedrals, Old Trafford Stadium
  • Wirral Peninsula, Mersey River
  • York and York Castle
  • Wales and Carnarfon Castle
  • Chester: Zoo, local attractions.

IELTS & ACADEMIC ENGLISH

  • Age: 15+ years
  • Duration: 30 hours for 2 weeks
  • Minimum level of English: B1
  • Grades: 12-20 students
  • Price per person: 50£ per week.

This course has been designed to help students complete key stages of international learning. The IELTS exam is accepted as proof of English proficiency in higher education institutions. The course covers all aspects of the exam, develops students' ability to understand and use academic English in all four skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening.

YOUNG MANAGER

  • Age: 14-17 years
  • Duration: 30 hours for 2 weeks
  • Minimum level of English: B1
  • Grades: 12-20 students
  • Price per person: 50£ per week.

The activities are specially designed for the development of speech, improving communication in English, studying business: business writing, negotiating. The course includes practical lessons, project work, group discussions.

Facilities and equipment at University of Chester Summer Camp

The camp is set amidst 13 hectares of green lawns and is a mixture of Victorian and modern buildings. Among the buildings you can find an old chapel, green gardens, as well as:

  • Banks, ATMs
  • Sports facilities: indoor swimming pool, squash courts, gyms, tennis courts, sports grounds, etc.
  • Starbucks Cafe.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all buildings.

The territory of Chester is located 15-20 minutes walk from the city center, in 8-20 minutes on foot there are shopping centers, supermarkets. Nearest airports, railway stations:

  • Bus station, railway station – about 15-20 minutes on foot
  • Airports: Liverpool – 35 minutes, Manchester – 50 minutes, Birmingham – about 2 hours by transfer.

Nearby attractions:

  • The Roman amphitheater is the largest in Britain!

Admission dates and extra charges

Premium program start dates:

  • March 8 – arrival for 14 days
  • July 6 – arrival for 2-4 weeks
  • July 20 – arrival for 2-3 weeks.

Students live according to a clear schedule: rise at 8:00, rebound - at 22:00. English is 15 hours a week and textbooks are provided. General education lessons, sports and creative events, excursions are organized daily.

  • Extra meals – £8 per serving
  • Trinity exam – £80 per person, subject to a group of 30 students
  • Supplement for extra nights – 45-55£
  • Private tuition – from £70 per hour
  • Tickets in museums, galleries, buses, etc. – from £ 50 per group (if not included in the price).

Transfers from airports are provided, the trip is designed for a group of 8, 18, 39, 45, 55 students.

Recommendations on when to apply
