Description of Myddelton College boarding school

A fairly new joint school, Myddleton College, is located at the site of the former Denbi school and provides excellent balanced education programs for children and adolescents (middle and senior, grades from 11 to 18). It respects the traditional British values - it concerns the educational sphere, and the ability to behave, to think broadly and draw objective conclusions, to treat with respect to all people. The institution received its name in honour of the founders, the Middleton family, who lived in the same city and did much to improve the level of education in the region. Here boys and girls can be studied, children from any country of the world, any colour of skin and religion are accepted - the school is proud of the diversity and uniqueness of its students.

Myddelton College is a co-educational school with a strong boarding ethos. A school to around 250 pupils and home to 55 pupils, Myddelton College is situated at a secluded location, on the edge of the picturesque and historic market town of Denbigh, North Wales, with stunning views over the Clwydian Range. The town of Denbigh is immersed in history, and the stunning 37-acre Myddelton estate is at the foot of the remains of the 13th century fortress of Denbigh Castle, creating an atmospheric, unspoilt, and ideal location for educational programmes, conferences and team building weekends.

Situated only 40 minutes away from Chester and approximately one hour from Manchester and Liverpool with good road, rail, and airport connections to both major cities, the college has an abundance of opportunities available to suit your individual needs.

Studying at Myddelton College will allow students to flourish both in and out of the classroom and develop the skills, qualities and values that will lead to a successful life. As a Microsoft Associate Showcase school, we aim to provide students with a unique blend of 21st century learning and the best of British education.

While we place high value and great emphasis on academic success, we also take a holistic view of education. Our ethos of developing and nurturing each individual student means that we value the arts, a love of the outdoors and sporting ability just as highly. With our praised “Learning Through the Outdoors” programme, and wide range of extra-curricular activities including Duke of Edinburgh, Combined Cadets Force, elite triathlon training, choirs, and drama clubs students will have an all-round and broad education.

Why are UK primary and secondary schools so highly regarded?

A primary aim is mastering English from a young age. Students in British boarding schools grow in independence, leadership, and self-reliance. Class sizes are small, allowing teachers to focus on individual needs more than in public schools. For working parents, the all-encompassing environment of boarding schools is appealing – offering everything from ballet to tennis and piano lessons within the school day, eliminating the need for additional travel. Many schools also provide comprehensive weekend programs, keeping kids engaged and safe on campus, though this varies by school.

Educational process

Myddelton College is a Microsoft Global Showcase school and a member of the exclusive EdTech50 group. Each Myddelton College student has their own personal tablet or laptop for learning and doing homework.

All lessons are delivered through Microsoft OneNote and Teams, providing parents and students with access to learning material from anywhere in the world, at any time. It also means that students receive personalized feedback from their teachers in real-time.

Many of the employees have been recognized for their exceptional ability to teach in innovative ways using technology, have been recognized by Microsoft as MIEE (Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts).

Prep School, Primary School

  • Age - from 4 years,
  • The term of study is up to the 6th grade.

The primary school stage builds a solid academic base of knowledge and skills. Students study an extensive and balanced program consisting of core and additional subjects: music, computer science, languages and drama are added to the exact sciences and humanities.

Classes are held both in classrooms and in the fresh air, which allows young researchers to study the world around them and gain applied experience applied in real life. With a small number of students in the class, teachers have the opportunity to pay individual attention to each pupil, reinforcing his strengths and noticing weaknesses in time.

The informal atmosphere in the classroom combines academic rigor and unobtrusiveness - children easily and quickly adapt to school everyday life, gradually preparing for the high workload of middle and high school.

Myddelton College provides necessary cares to boarding students, they also have a indoor sports hall with a new established gym and 3-4 soda/coffee/snacks selling machine. Unfortunately Myddelton College is not as good as described, which include food from the dinning hall is sometimes inefficient with a low standard; no room in any of its boarding houses have its own bathroom but a sink; wooden window surroundings are cracked; too much spiders and spiderwebs; etc. While all of the above shows a lack of quality and only met minimum standards, atmosphere of boarding is not as expected. — excerpts from a interview with year 12 boarding students
