Description of Royal Russell School

  • Location: London, England
  • Founded: in 1853
  • Educational programs: middle classes, GCSE / IGCSE, A-level
  • Students age: 11-18 years
  • Total number of students: 590 people, 140 of them on boarding house
  • Accommodation type: residence (full board).

Royal Russel School, one of the best private international schools in London and the UK, provides both a day-long form of education (mainly for children from the south of London) and a boarding school (for international students who today represent 25 world countries).

The institution was founded in 1853, and since 1924 is located in a modern building, fully equipped with everything necessary. The School itself is patronized by Her Majesty the Queen of Great Britain herself.

Here, children are given the opportunity to study at one of two departments:

  • Junior School (3-11 years)
  • Senior School (11-18 years).

There are many graduates known and successful personalities, for example:

  • Martin Clunes (actor)
  • Tom Wright (architect and designer, the author of the project of the legendary Parus Hotel (Burj-el-Arab) in Dubai)
  • Naoko Mori (actress)
  • Ellie Jackson (singer and musician) and many others.

Royal Russel School is located in the south of London, in the Croydon area, and occupies the territory of 100 acres: it is a beautiful well-tended park area, and thanks to an excellent transport interchange (stops are located right near the school) it is easy to get to the center of the British capital.

The motto of the institution is the Latin saying "Non sibi sed omnibus" ("Not for myself, but for everyone"). Educators strive to reveal the best abilities and traits of each child's character, teach them to think and care for others, to be merciful and be able to show compassion, to work for the benefit of others. Students are brought up in a harmonious, friendly and warm environment, in an atmosphere of care and security. They are taught universal and Christian moral values - tolerance, generosity, decency and honesty, rigor to oneself. All parents and guests of the campus, every teacher and a visiting coach or instructor working with students mark the excellent upbringing of children.

Each student is supervised by a private guardian: he acts on behalf of his parents if necessary, settles any academic and everyday issues. Parents receive full and detailed reports from teachers twice a year, they can observe the learning process on the school's website, read the director's information messages and the annual accurate journal of events and performance.

On the territory of the Royal Russel School Cola there is a full-fledged medical center with modern equipment. Twenty-four qualified nurses are on duty around the clock, there is a hospital (12 beds, separate rooms for boys and girls), male and female doctors attend school at least twice a week.

What do parents prioritize when searching for a UK school?

Think about what suits your child best. Different schools excel in various areas – arts, drama, sports, or specific subjects. There are selective and more inclusive schools, each catering to different strengths. If you're new to the UK system, you might start with league tables and GCSE or A-level results. More knowledgeable parents should consider the school's location, size, EAL course availability, academic requirements, and extracurricular offerings.

Review about Royal Russell School

Jenny Parker
(10.09.2021)
My grandson joined this school just over a week ago. This evening's video exchange was an absolute treat. When asked how life was going his face lit up with enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment as he recounted exciting and enriching experiences in lessons and how impressed he was that each teacher he met expressed their passion for their particular subject. I've been a teacher for 54 years so far, and I share and value this feeling. He is so happy and motivated after just a few days, and feels that the staff really care about him. I look forward eagerly to next week's installment. Thank you, Royal Russell.
