Description of Princess Gardens Preparatory School

  • Location: London, England, United Kingdom
  • Age of pupils: 3-11 years
  • Type of education: joint, mixed
  • School type: full-time
  • Language of instruction: English.

Princess Gardens Preparatory School calls itself a school where no two children are the same.

The curriculum is focused on academic success, on the education of children in the love of learning. The course is combined with a rich enrichment program - extracurricular activities, hobbies, sports, excursions, events on the territory: it helps to make friends, share ideas and thoughts, strengthen self-confidence, learn to work in a team. Princess Gardens offers both a traditional English study program and international classes (International Early Years Curriculum). The main language of instruction is English, optionally you can learn Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin).

Many lessons are based on the so-called "four C" principle: Creativity, Creative Thinking, Communication and Collaboration, which allows children to learn how to work as a team and solve problems and tasks together.

Digital technologies are tightly integrated into the curriculum, an innovative environment has been created, smart workspaces have been created. All children master the STEAM course – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics – during special lessons in Maker Space. These are the most modern classrooms in the school: from green screen technologies, 3Dprinting tonumerous crafts, coding and programming – there are resources for any activity. Close attention is paid to the neat, safe use of technology.

The school is actively working with the Cognitanetwork to provide children with a globalperspective and modern language education. Often work with partner, friendly schools:Charterhouse Square School, North Bridge House Preparatory School, Clifton Lodge School.

The school supports the traditional system of division into Houses, which are named after famous botanists, scientists, conservationists:

  • Attenborough
  • Carson
  • Darwin
  • Goodall.

Each coat of arms is decorated with examples from the local flora and fauna: squirrel, owl, hare, deer. Children compete with each other, maintain their home, and through charity events raise funds for Age UK, via the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation and Hannan School Morocco (a new school in Africa, near the Atlas Mountains). The houses organize events for their students in common living rooms: sports, musical and poetic evenings, master classes in the arts.

Much attention is paid to the development of leadership qualities: children are regularly given the floor, based on their decisions and preferences, opinions. Students can vote on the school board, several management positions have been prepared for them: class captains, heads of faculties, assistant school principal, captain of a sports team or musical ensemble, digital ambassador, head of the environmental council.

All children wear school uniforms.
