Founded in 1894, Ibstock Place School is an independent, coeducational day school for students from 4 to 18 years old. Combining its location in London with an 8-acre botanical garden adjacent to Richmond Park, the school serves as the perfect place for students to learn, explore and grow together. At the heart of Ibstock Place School's philosophy is a strong family spirit, a wide range of facilities and a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

Educational process

English and math lessons are usually held in the morning. Exact sciences (biology, physics and chemistry) lessons are held 3 times a week, and history and geography lessons are supplemented by seminars and trips.

Foreign languages: French is taught in the form of a game and gradually moves into more formal instruction, Latin and Ancient Greek begin to be taught from the 5th and 6th grades. 

The program additionally includes Religious Studies, Music, Visual Arts and Dance, Design and Technology, Information and Communication Technologies, and Sports.

Students are looked after and cared for from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

High School

The IPS curriculum devotes significant time to the expressive arts, sports, and humanities, along with languages, science, mathematics, and English. The PSHE program develops research skills, awareness, and understanding of the world around us.

Beginning in Year 7, the IPS curriculum includes weekly lessons in Ethics and Rhetoric, culminating in a qualification in Public Speaking with the English Language Board (ESB) at the end of Grade 7 and a Debate Qualification at the end of Grade 8.

In order to lay the foundations of communication in a global world, students will study French and Latin from the very beginning of their studies in high school, and later choose two more modern foreign languages - Spanish, German and Chinese. As students progress in school, they have additional opportunities in languages, expressive arts, physical education, or games.

Sixth Form

While academic subjects are at the heart of the Sixth Form curriculum, the school recognises that universities and employers demand more from today's youth. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) provides breadth of coverage and helps IPS students develop critical thinking and independent learning skills by writing essays on topics of their own choosing.

IPS provides an opportunity for junior Sixth Form pupils to develop public speaking skills, including those needed to chair a meeting, by preparing for the Speaking Board's 3 A-Level (English) Certificate in Speaking. Junior Sixth Form students are encouraged to read and conduct research beyond their core subjects to expand their knowledge base and provide material and topics for their presentations and group discussions.

The Sixth Form schedule includes self-paced study to help students use their time productively and develop important time management skills for further education and careers.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Ibstock Place School offers full-time education only, but for parents it provides a sense of security that children will be cared for in a safe environment, offering the opportunity to drop off children from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.

The school provides school transport services: children will be picked up and brought after school by a school bus on a door-to-door basis.

Ibstock Place School has two specialized clubs: the Breakfast Club and the After School Club.

  • The breakfast club is open every morning during the semester from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Children are provided with a friendly breakfast, after breakfast they can play board games, participate in discussions or watch interactive videos. All this takes place before lessons to wake up the child and stimulate him to continue the day successfully.
  • At the After School Club, children are provided with a small snack from 16:45 to 17:00.

The preparatory school is located in two purpose-built buildings with 14 classrooms, a library, an art studio and a science laboratory. The high school (located on the Clarence Lane and Cooper's campuses, a short walk from the main building) has common areas, music rooms, a concert hall, a theater, a gymnasium, sports fields, and a swimming pool.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

  • For children under 5 years of age, IPS does not conduct testing, places are provided on a first-come, first-served basis (siblings of current students have priority).
  • Admission to primary school (grades 2 to 6) takes place through testing, which includes questions in English and mathematics (+ verbal reasoning for grade 5).
  • To enter secondary school, you must pass exams in mathematics, English, and verbal reasoning. Successful candidates are invited for an interview.
  • Admission to the Sixth Form: prospective pupils take exams in the intended subjects for A-level.

Scholarships Ibstock Place School

Students who receive a scholarship will have their tuition reduced in part or in full. Funds to support the IPS Scholarship Program come from funds held by the school or the Families of Ibstock Place School (FIPS) parent association. Scholarship applications are accepted from parents and guardians of prospective students entering high school and Sixth Form.
