The university was founded in 1930 in the city of Orenburg. 

The learning process includes a course of lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory classes, educational and pre-diploma practice.

• Problems of formation of sustainable infectious and invasive well-being in the Orenburg region in modern socio-economic conditions;
• Biological activity of new antimicrobial compounds of animal and bacterial origin;
• Veterinary-sanitary control of livestock products in the cultivation of animals and birds using biologically active micronutrients.

The university provides nonresident full-time students with 3 dormitories for 1277 places.

The learning process takes place in 5 buildings, equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, practical and laboratory work. The classrooms are equipped with modern technology: screens, projectors and computers.

Students are given free   access to the educational library with a reading room for 198 seats.

For sports, the university has a sports and recreation complex and an open stadium of a wide profile with elements of an obstacle course.

To monitor the health of students at the university, there is a medical center and a student clinic.

At OSAU, the learning process is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).
