The Orenburg Medical University was created at the height of the Great Patriotic War and opened its doors in 1944: initially it was a medical institute, in 1994 the university was given the status of an academy, in 2014 - the status of a university. OrSMU is a modern complex with research centers and its own clinic, where professors and doctors of sciences in the field of medicine are received. Working in modern laboratories, teachers and students study a wide range of problems:

• Central nervous system disorders
• Heart and vascular disease
• Oncological, physical and other pathologies.

The university has three dormitories with a capacity of 1350 beds. First of all, places are offered to nonresident and foreign students, the rest can rent a room or apartment in any city of Orenburg.

In addition to 6 academic buildings, the university has laboratories, research centers, a large library with 400 thousand e-books, magazines, periodicals. Also, the university has a wellness center, a country camp for students.

A number of medical institutions of the city work at the university: a polyclinic, a hospital, a forensic medical examination, and a center for genetic research. The laboratories of microsurgery, tissue regeneration, clinical anatomy and others are open.

Students train to save lives on special mannequins provided by the simulation center of the Odessa State Medical University: in real conditions, they perform a series of manipulations, practicing skills on simulators, which can subsequently save people's lives. There are 5 types of simulators: pediatrics, pharmacy, dentistry, obstetric care and ambulance. Students after studying in such a center pass an exam, which gives them appropriate accreditation.

The academic year at OSMU is divided into 2 semesters: the first begins in September, the second in January. Of the additional costs, you should prepare to rent a room or apartment if you are coming from another city and there is not enough space in the hostel: it will take $ 334-682 per month to rent a property.

The admission campaign at the university is open from June 20 to July 10 - during this time it is important to provide the documents: application for admission, certificate or diploma of previous education. It is important for foreigners to prepare a notarized translation of documents and a certificate of proficiency in the Russian language B1. After this, profile examinations are passed, as a result of which applicants can be enrolled. If the points are not enough, there is an opportunity to enter the contract department.

Scholarships at the university are not high, as in other universities of the country: 1564 rubles per month to first-year students, 2347 to senior students. Graduate students receive 7391 rubles a month, and residency students - 7843 rubles a month. Such low scholarships should not upset students and those who were left without financial assistance - the university regularly raises research grants among capable students and entire groups: their size can exceed 6 million rubles a year.
