Bedes Brighton is located on the basis of one of the best universities in the UK and Europe - the University of Sussex (University of Sussex): among other things, it is also the only university in the country, located in the national park! The campus was founded 87 kilometers from London on the South Downs hill (the nearest town is Brighton and Hove) in 1961. Today it is a large, prestigious and respected private research university: it teaches 3 Nobel laureates, science prize winners, 14 members of the British Royal Scientific Society. English for the Future (Coast)

The academic language course can include 15 or 25 hours of classes weekly - they are divided into thematic blocks:

  • General language skills (10 hours)
  • Communication skills (5 hours)
  • Professional skills / preparation for language exams IELTS / CAE (up to 10 hours, only available with an intensive program).

1) General language skills.

This is a comprehensive, rapid and effective improvement of all basic language competencies:

  • Grammar
  • Reading

IELTS Preparation

Bedes Brighton Summer offers an IELTS preparation program. High exam scores are a prerequisite for students looking for a place at a UK university or work in areas such as law or medicine in English-speaking countries. The program includes 15 hours of special preparation for exams.

Tasks:

  • Improve student methods and strategies to achieve the highest possible score.

Pathways to Higher Education (Academic Pathways)

  • Intensity: 25 hours per week,
  • Students age: 16-20 years,
  • 80 students per course, up to 14 people per class,
  • Minimum level for enrollment: B1.

The course is designed to teach international students how to work in the English-speaking academic world. This is distinguished by the opportunity to significantly improve the level of English, acquire useful academic skills (in particular, the ability to work in writing and orally, research, write essays and reasoning), as well as deepen your knowledge in the chosen field. Each student can choose their own field of study - the program will adapt to a specific direction:

  • Business and Economics,
  • Humanities
  • Law and law,
  • Science.

The completed course will prepare teenagers for further study, help with admission to the chosen university and in further career growth.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to take the IELTS exam at the end of their studies: it is held on July 22 and August 5, available to students who have completed a minimum of 2-week course. Paid separately = £445.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students of summer programs are offered cozy private bedrooms in a spacious, comfortable Northfield residence located right on the university campus. In general free use there are living rooms for rest, kitchen areas with necessary equipment and appliances, and bathrooms and amenities are provided in every room. Free laundry service is provided weekly.

Board meals for students are organized according to the system of personal coupons. Each student receives a daily food stamp worth 20 pounds sterling: they can be spent in any store, cafe or restaurant at their discretion (however, remember that the amount can not be saved or removed - the unused balance is reset).

Adult pupils, of course, can dispose of more freedom, but are obliged to report their movements and travel, to be in touch and to return to the territory at specified times. Participation in school activities is not compulsory: if a student has his own plans or wishes, he can make a leisure program on his own - the main thing is to stay in touch with the administration and return to the territory on time (max. 23:30).

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Summer courses at Bedes Brighton are designed for students with a level of preparation from A2 (Pre-Intermediate) to C2 (Advanced, Advanced). In total, the courses are designed for 5 levels of preparation. If the student plans to attend an intensive course (25 lessons weekly instead of the standard 15), his level should be at least B1 (Intermediate), the same applies to students preparing for the CAE / IELTS exams - they are not suitable for beginners.

Before the beginning of the education, all students undergo an introductory distributive testing and are divided into groups (in each - up to 14 people).
