International boarding school American Academy of Cyprus  is located in Limassol, one of the most cozy, developed and hospitable cities in sunny Cyprus. Specialists and teachers practice an individual approach here, so that each of the foreign students can quickly and effectively improve their personal skills and achieve excellent results. Constantly used interactive methods, gaming techniques in the lessons, to make the learning process more comfortable and quick for students, to constantly develop their communication and leadership skills, the ability to work in a team.

SUMMER COURSES OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR ADOLESCENTS

The summer school works for children from 3 to 19 years: all pupils are divided into groups (usually 3-11 and 11-19 years), and the whole educational and leisure program is developed taking into account their age features, opportunities, interests and preferences.

  • 3-11 years old

At this age, children learn through the game: so study becomes interesting, unencumbered, new knowledge is remembered easily and with pleasure. For young students, a large number of activities and leisure programs are held: arts, crafts, art, sports, excursions and walks. You can listen to fairy tales in English, take part in an interesting intellectual quiz, play a sketch and a small play.

The program is available for schoolchildren of the Academy, and for foreign students wishing to take only a summer course.

  • 11-19 years old

The summer school course is designed in accordance with strict British quality standards - it is an excellent opportunity to combine productive studying and an interesting, comfortable, fun holiday.

Academic classes are divided not only by age, but also by the level of the initial knowledge of each student. The intensity of the studying is 20 lessons weekly, devoted to the development of all basic skills and knowledge:

At the end of the course, students receive a corporate certificate, where their achievements and results are marked, and when passing the general examination, the City & Guilds certificate also.

In elementary, junior classes, children are taught to think: they are taught a love of self-development and study, try to make the curriculum as interesting and easy as possible so that young pupils retain their curiosity for life.

Elementary school consists of several stages:

  • 5 years = 1 class
  • 6 years = 2 class

In high school, students begin preparing for academic exams at the IGCSE and A-level: the first speaks of the completion of secondary education (for foreign students), and the second means the mastering of subjects at an advanced level sufficient for admission to the university.

The IGCSE program provides for examinations at the age of 16: it is humanitarian, and accurate, and natural sciences (8-10 disciplines are examined in total). Please note: as a general rule, the IGCSE certificate is not enough to enroll in a university - you will need to pass an additional preparatory program for high school students (for example, A-level).

Students study a wide range of subjects and disciplines, actively develop the skills of critical and analytical thinking, learn how to work independently and distribute their own time. Scientific and practical laboratories allow you to experiment in physics, biology, chemistry, design and technology, to develop research projects and work. In addition, students can attend vocational guidance classes, consultations on admission to universities, participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities and competitions (including in the famous competition for the Duke of Edinburgh Prize).

At the end of the course, children also receive a certificate of the American Academy School Leaving Certificate (Apolytirion): it is recognized by the national Ministry of Education and is listed in all universities of the world.

The entire middle-class program consists of the following steps:

  • 11-12 years old = 1 class
  • 12-13 years = 2nd grade
  • 13-14 years = grade 3 (GCSE / IGCSE level)
  • 14-15 years = grade 4 (level GCSE / IGCSE + several subjects (languages) at AS level, first year A-level)

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students at American Academy Limassol Cyprus are accommodated in residences within walking distance from the school: it takes only a short time to reach the school building, so students can come to classes or self-study, even on weekends and after major lessons, if they wish.

There is a full board (three meals a day, delicious and varied), weekly laundry and room cleaning (up to 2 people in each room). The rooms are equipped with all necessary furniture and appliances (including TV with cable access, video equipment), high-speed Internet is configured.

Teachers and educators live with their children, who look after the children around the clock, guarantee their safety and comfort.

School accommodation is organized year-round, not excluding Christmas and Easter holidays, as well as other holidays and state holidays.

The following services are included in the course price:

School education usually ends at 13: 30-13: 50 - if you wish, you can book an additional stay at school (lunches, entertainment and leisure, cognitive activities, electives).

There is a system of scholarships, grants and discounts in the school, for example:

  • 5% discount - for registered students who paid the deposit before May 31;
  • 5% discount to be added to the previous one - if you pay the full year of study until September 30;
  • Discount for brothers and sisters of students already enrolled in the American Academy: 5% for two students from the same family and 10% for each subsequent student.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

The American Academy in Cyprus encourages all future students to pre-visit the campus and thoroughly familiarize themselves with the composition of the academic programs.

The decision for each student is separately approved by the director personally after a positive evaluation by the admissions committee. Each applicant must:

  • Pass the entrance examinations: math and English (details below)
  • Pass personal interview-interview (conducted by the director in person)
  • Provide the general package of documents: [999.10 ]
  • oTwo photos of passport format
  • o Birth certificate (original)
  • o Copy of passport or identity card, as well as these documents from parents (both) or guardians
  • oCopies certificates (if available, must be certified At the notary) IELTS, TOEFL, IGCSE
  • oTabel from the last place of study
  • oFor junior students, a medical card and certificate indicating vaccinations.

The dates for applying at the school are flexible - specific deadlines depend on the number of places on the course.

Attention that for Russian students and citizens not from among the EU countries the application process will be longer (in particular because of the process of obtaining a visa) - be sure to consider this fact in order not to be late for official terms.

Entrance examinations for applicants are usually held in early March (registration is already from the beginning of February, exact dates are specified from your manager). The specific entrance tests are usually the following:

  • English language (75 minutes)
  • Mathematics (90 minutes).

Hi, I checked the American Academy site in the web, and they don't offer there plans for above 12 (or such), can you please confirm the Academy receives students at the age of 14-16.
