The University of St. Thomas – Minnesota is one of the best private Catholic universities that has an ELS language center on campus. The university offers many programs, including a bachelor's degree course, which allows you to earn credits for admission to the second year of the university at the same time as learning English.

Among the students of the institution are visiting students from 50 states and 63 countries, which shows the diversity of cultures, languages, nationalities.

The ELS Language Center offers several programs for learning English based on the bases: reading, writing, communication, listening. Upon successful completion of final level 112, the student receives a certificate for conditional admission to the University of St. Thomas, the nearest colleges or partner universities. University Preparation Program

ELS offers a course of study in conjunction with the study of English to prepare for admission to higher education. Training takes place in several areas: engineering, business, natural sciences, computer and information science, mathematics, health and physical exercises.

Intensive English Course

The program focuses on getting quick results with effective learning. The course includes the basic skills: reading, listening, writing, communicating with native speakers + verification tests. Classes are formed depending on the levels of knowledge: from "beginners" to "masters". 30 lessons of 50 minutes are organized per week in groups: from 15 people - for conversational practices and vocabulary enrichment, from 20 people - for improving skills.

The American Explorer course allows you to combine learning with travel: classes are held in the morning, and in the rest of the student can explore the sights, applying the acquired language skills. The program contains 4 weeks of 15 lessons for each level. Students will be divided into groups of 15 people depending on the skills: from "beginner" to "master".

Semi-Intensive English Course

The program of semi-intensive study is classes in the morning, free time - in the second. There are 20 lessons of 50 minutes per week, in a class - no more than 15 people. Classes focus on the basic blocks of English proficiency: reading and writing, speaking practice, vocabulary enrichment, lessons at the Center for Language Technologies. Students are divided into groups by language level: "beginner", "intermediate", "advanced", "master".

The fastest version of this program is based on individual lessons on business topics in which the student is involved. The number of classes is adjusted to each student, the program can last from 1 to 52 weeks. Lessons contain basic knowledge of the language and practice with an English-speaking teacher.

PAT Online Testing

The test is designed to quickly assess language knowledge for further planning of training.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students of the language school can choose one of two accommodation options:

  • In a host family

The student is provided with a single room in the home of an American family. Host families have dinner with students in the evenings, celebrate holidays with them, help in solving various issues. They are also native speakers, allowing the student to practice skills off campus.

The price includes 14 meals per week: breakfasts and dinners daily, lunches - on weekends

  • On-campus dormitories

In the residential buildings of the university, students live in double rooms with shared kitchens, laundries, recreation areas. Wi-Fi access is available throughout.

 

Activities University of St.Thomas – Minnesota English Language School

In St. Paul you can visit many events, attractions:

  • Art, culture: art galleries, art museums, centers of live poetry and music, festivals, concerts, etc.

For creative students, studios of sound recording, drawing, dancing, theatrical productions are open. More than 140 student organizations are developing in various directions: volunteer activities, scientific clubs, cultural associations, foundations, interest clubs.

St. Paul is the capital of Minnesota with a population of more than 300,000 people. The ELS English Language Center is located on the campus of the University of St. Thomas near the scenic Mississippi Waterfront.

Admission of new students takes place on Mondays every four weeks throughout the year.
