Description of University College Dublin Summer Camp

A summer English course at University College Dublin is what you need for a memorable summer. Studying in the capital of Ireland, beautiful historic Dublin, can not but like: its rich history, charm and at the same time modernity and amazing architecture will impress any tourist and student. Dublin is surrounded by beautiful beaches, hills (you can go hiking or cycling), and not far from the summer camp is the largest and one of the most beautiful urban parks in Europe - Phoenix Park. Classic Course

The combined summer programme will help to significantly improve the language level, while enjoying an interesting extracurricular program, immersing yourself in the culture of Ireland and communicating with new friends from around the world.

The two-week course already includes (entrance tickets, transfer, escort including):

  • Full day excursion to Kilkenny Castle
  • Full day excursion to Powerscourt Gardens, Bray, walk along the beautiful beach
  • Full day tour of Dublin
  • 5 half-day walks around Dublin: city centre, deer reserve, Phoenix Park.

In the three-week course, they will be added a full-day excursion to Galway.

The course is for those who want to saturate their summer holidays with unforgettable impressions, communication, culture, history and art!

The two-week Premium course already includes:

  • Full day excursion to Dublin Zoo
  • Full day trip to the Moher Rocks
  • 5 half-day walks around Dublin: city centre, deer sanctuary, Phoenix Park, Guinness Beer Museum, National Leprechaun Museum, Kilmanheim Prison.

The three-week course will include an all-day excursion to Galway and a boat trip on Loch Corrib.

The price already includes all entrance tickets, transfers (buses) and escort of children.

Accommodation, meals, prices

University College Dublin Summer Camp offers two accommodation options for students. Meals three meals a day, boarding - breakfasts, lunches and dinners; on excursions designed for the whole day, everyone is given a packaged lunch. With prior notice, you can organize a dietary, special diet.

On-campus residence (10+ years)

Residences are modern mansions in 2-3 floors, 4-5 bedrooms each. Private rooms, bathrooms on the floor (one for 4-7 students, two on the floor), a common living room for relaxation with TV and a small kitchen area. Each student has a bed, desk and wardrobe.

Towels and bed linen are provided, cleaning and linen change are weekly. Laundry — for a fee.

Host families (14+ years)

A great opportunity to get acquainted with Irish traditions and customs, every day English with its speakers!

The houses are located no further than 35 minutes drive from the educational building (transport cards are provided weekly). Students are offered cozy rooms for 1-2 people.

Activities University College Dublin Summer Camp

Students in their free hours are offered a diverse, interesting, exciting extracurricular program:

Academic English and IELTS Preparation

  • Minimum level: B1 and above
  • Classes: up to 15-20 people (for admission to the course at least - 12 people)
  • Age: 15+ years
  • 30 hours in 2 weeks
  • Minimum period: 2 weeks
  • Price: 50€ per person per week.

The additional mini-course is aimed at thorough, effective preparation for the IELTS exam and raising the level of academic English: this is an indispensable option for students 15+ years old who want to study abroad in English-language programs in the future. The program covers all key language aspects:

  • Reading
  • Written speech
  • Speaking
  • Listening (listening comprehension).

What awaits the students of the course:

  • Detailed analysis of the features and structure of the exam
  • Analysis of exam strategies, useful techniques for preparation and eduaction
  • Writing trial academic essays
  • Speech correction, fluency development, work with accent and pronunciation
  • Careful work with the IELTS format: time frames, order of execution, task formats
  • Focus on the academic application of English
  • Grammar
  • Vocabulary expansion
  • Development of formulation and protection of the opinion, point of view.

Professional teachers have extensive experience in working with IELTS, will be able to explain in detail and easily to foreign students all the features of this particular test. Real materials are used - IELTS of the past years.

Junior Reporter Club

  • Classes up to 15-20 people (minimum 12 are required to start the course)
  • 6 hours in 2 weeks
  • Price: 35€ per person per week.

An interesting program is designed for students who in the future plan to connect their lives with media, journalism and PR. The mini-course is aimed at developing creativity, improving leadership qualities, developing the ability to defend one's point of view - this is achieved in the course of working together with peers from around the world.

What is included in the course:

  • Expression of their thoughts and ideas in various formats of communication.

The program is practical, the whole theory is immediately tested in practice - in group projects, discussions about business etiquette and business development.

Course blocks:

Introduction to the Business World (6 hours)

Students will understand how to properly compose and present a resume, educate to pass an interview, learn how to properly promote their idea and business project.

Bringing a product/idea to market (24 hours)

Students are divided into groups of up to 5 people and come up with an idea or product together. Further, using digital communication and marketing techniques, they develop a promotional campaign to advertise this product - each group is announced a budget within which they must work. At the end of the course, each team makes a presentation and convinces other groups to "invest money" in their project, promotes their idea: the winners receive prizes at the Farewell Ceremony.

Facilities and equipment at University College Dublin Summer Camp

The summer camp campus is located in Balfield, a 20-minute drive from Dublin city centre. This is a modern, well-equipped campus with a large number of green lawns, gardens, outdoor areas for outdoor recreation. Here is prepared everything you need for sports games and activities:

  • Hockey Stadium
  • Fields and grounds for team games: football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and others
  • Swimming pool (Olympic size)
  • Shops
  • Cafes and restaurants, including Starbucks
  • Bus stop right in front of the campus entrance: routes run throughout Dublin and its suburbs

  • Round-the-clock video surveillance throughout the territory (CCTV).

The nearest airports are Dublin (28 km) and Belfast (181 km), 30 and 90 minutes drive respectively.

From the campus it is easy to reach the main attractions of the city and Ireland:

  • Central Dublin: city squares and ancient medieval streets, monuments, monuments of history and architecture
  • Dublin Castle and its magnificent gardens
  • Trinity College
  • St. Patrick's Cathedral
  • Phoenix Park City Park
  • Moher Rocks – one of the most impressive views of the Atlantic
  • Galway (the journey will take 2.5 hours) is one of the oldest, most historically valuable cities in Ireland, the cultural heart of the country.

Admission dates and extra charges

Shift start dates:

Additional costs and fees:

  • Trinity Exam (optional) = 150€ (subject to a group of at least 15 students)
