Description of OISE Dublin Young Learners Summer Camp

 

OISE Dublin Young Learners is a language school located in quiet and picturesque places far from the noise of the capital. She offers the best programs of studying English in modern conditions. Studying a foreign language in OISE is not limited to lessons in classes: all kinds of activities, leisure activities for active language practice, and the development of communication skills are used.

Schedule:

  • The first half of the day is devoted to language classes.
  • The second part of the day is occupied with events organized by leisure (sports, games, quests, master classes).

Summer school

    • 23 hours of language classes per week

The summer school program allows teenagers to work on projects and presentations on Irish culture, history, discover the traditions of Gaelic football, throwing, Irish dance. Students learn to use English in everyday life, explore cultural traditions, develop self-confidence, and self-study skills. The course forms an understanding of the history, culture of Ireland, the events that determined its identity. Some topics of the course: Gaelic, Irish myths, legends, the image of St. Patrick, Irish literature. Creation of student projects encourages creative approach, group work, which allows to develop team spirit. The ultimate goal of the project work is to create a presentation, a video report, a blog on a specific topic.

This unique course allows students to analyze English from audio, video, written sources, use their knowledge in a particular context. Each student forms a personal portfolio that helps to assess language progress, the need for individual lessons, and define personal goals. This program is ideal for a first stay in an English-speaking environment.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school offers accommodation in a comfortable residence in full board:

  • Rooms accommodating from 4 to 6 students
  • All rooms are en suite.

Activities OISE Dublin Young Learners Summer Camp

During the week, recreation evenings are organized where students get together to participate in master classes in arts and crafts, Irish dancing, team games, and talent competitions. Events are organized to encourage young students to use English in all possible contexts through formal and informal language registers.

Cultural excursions to Dublin, Kilkenny Castle are held on Wednesday afternoon. Full day tours are held every Saturday: they include visits to museums and other attractions.

  • Gormanston is a small idyllic village on the River Delvin north of the bustling capital of Dublin. In the center of the city there are only 400 inhabitants, a small rural community. The small country pub is the oldest public building in Ireland.

Facilities and equipment at OISE Dublin Young Learners Summer Camp

The school plan was specifically developed taking into account the accumulated learning experience: it is equipped with individual classrooms, group classes for 4–8 students, and open-plan offices. All centers are equipped with modern and comfortable furniture.

The learning environment is designed to eliminate all distractions in the learning process, to allow students to feel as comfortable as possible. The premises of the school are well equipped technically, focused on interactive learning. The campus has a sports complex, a cafeteria, modern common rooms.

Recommendations on when to apply

- there are some very popular and high demand children's camps, where the applications need to be submitted 1 year in advance (in particular Switzerland , Great Britain , USA , Canada , Austria)
- we recommend to apply one year before the start of the training program,
- some schools have a specific time frame (September-November - please specify an individual school)
- some schools require tests in several stages (UKISET, internal tests of the school: English, mathematics, logics, subjects, interview, some require a personal visit)
- we recommend to apply one year before the start of the program,
- for Foundation and Pathway programs, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are usually required, respectively

- recommended submission one year before the start of the program,
- the deadline normally closes in January, for TOP HEIs and, as a rule, in March in other universities
- for a bachelor, a Foundation or Pathway preparatory program a completed A-level, IB, High School + IELTS / TOEFL are required
- for Masters you need a graduated higher education, in some cases you need a pre-Masters program
- MBA requires completed higher education, work experience preferably at least 2-3 years, etc.
