The most relevant information for students on admission to British universities in 2020.

Undergraduate in England: program description

Dual programs common

Most programs at UK universities last 3 years, with the exception of medical courses.

Duration of training is three years

Integrated Master's degrees - combined programs include bachelor's and master's degrees, duration is 4-5 years. Upon graduation, students submit their research project, subject to the successful defense of their work, they are awarded a master's degree. Most combined projects in engineering and natural sciences.

Educational credit system

The student accumulates credits that add up hours of study and achievements. To proceed to the next course, you will need to collect 120 credits per academic year. 1 credit is equal to 10 academic hours.

Intensity of classes

Studying in British universities takes all the time even for talented students. In addition to lectures, they are engaged in individual projects and assignments - this is how the issue of developing scientific independence is solved, critical thinking is developed. Most of the curriculum is hands-on training. Tutor support works in universities: each student is assigned a tutor who monitors progress, and a consultant on issues related to training. The size of the groups is from 5-7 to 15 people.

Deduction statistics

About 20% of students cannot withstand the academic load. Another common reason for dropouts is high tuition fees. If a student is expelled in the first year of study, he receives a certificate of higher education, if in the second - a diploma of incomplete higher education.

Perspectives

The UK is struggling with a high immigration rate, so the rules for international students are only getting stricter. Without work experience, it is difficult for students  to find a job, but the chances increase outside the Kingdom. The British diploma is highly regarded among international companies, European and Asian. After graduating from the bachelor's degree, foreign students often remain to study in the master's program, which lasts only 1 year, but for this it is necessary to pass a high competition. For admission, you will need: an essay, diploma, recommendations, portfolio or a project for future research.
