Swallowdale international summer camp is a traditional Canadian camp chosen by parents who want to give their child an unforgettable summer. Its location (Rosso Lake College, Muskoka Region, Ontario) gives you the opportunity to spend your summers in an eco-friendly, safe and incredibly beautiful place filled with opportunities for outdoor activities. The traditions of out-of-town recreation and raising children in the fresh air have been maintained here since 1943. General English + Activity

This is an ideal option for international students who want to comprehensively improve their level of English, get vivid impressions from the summer holidays and not think about a special direction of the summer camp. This ESL course will perfectly develop all the main language skills during 10 hours of weekly lessons:

  • Speaking
  • Writing, grammar,
  • Reading
  • Vocabulary, vocabulary, fixed phrases, conversational speech,
  • Listening comprehension,
  • Correct pronunciation and accent correction.

The emphasis is on improving spoken English, so that children can feel confident in real life situations, easily communicate with English speakers, and quickly overcome the language barrier.

Five days a week, students attend two lessons weekly, and in the rest of the time they are engaged in sports (including water sports), creativity, and go on excursions. The communicative methodology makes it possible for students with any level of knowledge and skills to progress quickly (in general, the program is divided into three ESL blocks: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). Before the start of classes, all newcomers undergo a placement test, which will reveal the existing level of English.

Forest School + Activities

  • Course composition: 10 English lessons + extracurricular program,

The special course "Forest School" is perfect for those students who want to combine learning English with real adventures! This is a program for those who love outdoor recreation, activity and sports, who want to learn more about Canada and try themselves in the role of an explorer of Canadian lands.

The Forest School + Activities course will show teenagers how to make the most of the natural opportunities that surround them, teach useful practices and techniques to protect the environment, improve their knowledge of geography, Canadian traditions, and survival skills.

Each week there are 10 classes (two hours each, five days a week, on weekdays), the rest of the time is devoted to hiking, recreation by the water, sports, creativity and excursions.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Right on campus, children are offered cozy rooms to stay in one of the three residences. The rooms can accommodate up to 8 people: they are equipped with comfortable beds (including bunk beds), tables and chairs, chests of drawers and wardrobes; In addition, each child is provided with a sleeping bag for departures. Toilets and showers are shared (toiletries and towels must be brought with you). Boys and girls live separately. Laundry services are available weekly.

Caregivers live with children on each floor to guarantee their safety and assistance 24/7.

Children are provided with three full meals a day + a healthy snack: these are delicious, varied, nutritious dishes prepared under the guidance of a local chef.

Activities Swallowdale international summer camp

An extracurricular recreation and entertainment program is the most important element of the summer course. Not only will it give you the opportunity to spend your summer in a fun and exciting way, but it will also help you strengthen your knowledge and hone your language skills in a real language setting. Each week, each participant of the camp session chooses an attractive activity, which will be practiced for at least 3 hours together with an experienced instructor 5 days a week.

What are the summer camp participants offered during their free hours?

  • Water sports: canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, paddleboarding,
  • Sports: Archery, Bandy, Basketball, General Fitness, Wilderness Survival Course, Soccer (Soccer), Volleyball,
  • Arts, Creativity & Crafts: Dance, Theatre, Yoga, Guitar Playing, Carpentry and more.

Every evening, there are exciting activities on campus designed by the summer camp team. In some of them, you can participate with the teams of your residence: such competitions between houses help to develop a sense of teamwork, show yourself as a strong leader, and learn teamwork. What is offered to students in the evenings?

  • Banquets and gala dinners,
  • Evenings by the campfire,
  • Shared Games,
  • Boat races,
  • Discos
  • Sports games and tournaments,
  • Talent show,
  • Walks around the nearest town.

On weekends, students go on an excursion: one full-day excursion is always available additionally for a fee (the trip itself, supervision, transport, entrance tickets, lunch). This could be, for example, a trip to Niagara Falls or Canada's Wonderland amusement park.

Facilities and equipment at Swallowdale international summer camp

The camp operates on the campus of Rosso Lake College in Ontario (Muskoka region). The 53-acre lakeside campus has everything you need for studying, living and recreation:

  • Water facilities for swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, SUP surfing,
