EASTBOURNE CAMPUS, UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON

The Academic English course is aimed at educating students aged 9 to 18 years. Pupils are accommodated in residence and attend classes in classrooms on the campus of the University of Brighton.

Training takes place on the basis of a communicative approach between students and teachers. During 2-4 weeks of study, students will learn important language basics:

  • Listening comprehension,
  • Correct pronunciation and fluent speaking,
  • Reading and writing, grammar,
  • Vocabulary for learning and life.

The program includes 27 hours of weekly classes, 15 of which are allocated to lessons dedicated to life in English-speaking countries. Thanks to the knowledge gained, students will be able to confidently speak and accurately understand what they heard, express their thoughts, continue their studies at universities in the UK, USA and other countries, travel.

The course price includes accommodation and meal fees, on-campus activities and field trips.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students of summer programs are accommodated in a comfortable boarding house, in which 170 places are prepared. Accommodation is organized in modern blocks of a high standard of comfort: single rooms with bathrooms, desks and places for storing personal belongings. High-speed WiFi is available throughout the residential area.

Male and female pupils live separately. The building has a relatively strict daily routine, including a mandatory return to the rooms at 22:00 and turning off the lights at 22:30.

The facility provides bed linen, which is changed weekly and washed by laundry staff. Students are required to bring their own personal towels and toiletries.

Students are provided with three meals a day, included in the price of the program. Students have the opportunity to additionally purchase snacks and drinks at any time, as the kitchen and dining area is open seven days a week.

Approximate composition of three meals a day:

  • Breakfast: cereals, toast, fruits, yogurts, fruit and vegetable juices,
  • Lunch: a full lunch for consumption on campus or packed lunch for sightseeing days,
  • Served dinner: meat and fish dishes, vegetables and cereals, desserts, hot drinks.

Activities Summer School at Eastbourne Campus, University of Brighton

Eastbourne has several dozen public places worth visiting: for example, the Towner Gallery of Contemporary Art, five theaters, venues for music concerts and festivals, bars, pubs and restaurants. The city is relatively small, so it is safe and cozy – at every step you can meet acquaintances and friends.

Summer programs involve not only intensive academic education, but also a variety of leisure activities on campus: talent shows, discos, board game and movie nights, sports tournaments and much more. The course also includes half-day or full-day trips to the sights of Brighton or London.

The Campus of the University of Brighton is located in Eastbourne, a historic tranquil city with a large beach line and quiet country life. The study area is located in the Meads area: this is one of the sunniest places in the UK, surrounded by stunning natural beauties, farms and farms, where most of the products are bought, from which meals are prepared for the nutrition of students.

Students have the opportunity to use its entire infrastructure:

  • Classrooms with modern equipment,
  • Sports and gyms,
  • Indoor 25-meter swimming pool,
  • Studios of additional education: programming, dance, art, natural sciences and much more,
  • Outdoor areas for sports and recreation.

Thanks to the calm and safe terrain of the city, students can explore the nearest attractions, enjoy the benefits of being close to the sea, exploring the surroundings on foot or by bicycle, but always accompanied by a senior employee.

Admission dates and extra charges

The courses fall in the summer months, starting in mid-July and ending in August. During each school day, students attend several hours of classes, interrupted by three meals a day, and then participate in campus or off-site activities.

Most of the costs are included in the price of the program: accommodation and meals, medical care, extracurricular activities and cultural trips. Additionally, if necessary, snacks and drinks outside the official meals, excursions not included in the program, transfers to the airport are paid.

Enrolment process

The admission process includes filling out a registration form online or on campus, booking a place, and arriving to meet and start your studies. To book a place on the course, you must pay 10% of the total amount as a deposit, and full payment must be made four weeks before arrival on campus.

Perspectives

Students improve their language skills in English, gain new skills and hone existing ones in accordance with their chosen program. Certificates received at the end of the course are proof of the individual achievements of the student and can be presented upon admission to educational institutions, including universities.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Students wishing to study in summer programs must provide personal documents: passport, visa or residence permit, health insurance and vaccination card. There are no special requirements for applicants, since students pass tests upon admission.

On campus, programs are offered for students from 9 to 18 years old.
