St. John's Academy is a school that uses the International Baccalaureate (IB) teaching model in programs for all ages.

Students of grades 6-9 study basic disciplines and those subjects that will be useful to them in the future. The program includes two languages - French and English, the study of sciences and mathematics, physical culture and art. Additionally, students can master career education.
Program of grades 11-12
- Age – from 16 years
- The training period is 2 years.
The program of grades 11-12 includes many disciplines: exact life sciences, art, digital design, social studies and much more. The schedule will include the basic disciplines that are mandatory for study, and those subjects that the student likes more. The program, based on the IB approach, prepares students for university admission by developing strengths and pulling up weaknesses.

The residence of the academy consists of four dormitories: Strathcona, Maxwell, Lakeside, Dwight. These two-, three-storey buildings are equipped with:

About 25 clubs work on campus. The largest of them are:
- The fitness club offers students a variety of workouts in different sports to help improve physical fitness and skills. Students will attend one class each week after class and at lunchtime. Under the guidance of experienced trainers, students will receive recommendations on strength and physical eduaction, instruction on nutrition and general health.
- The Art Club is ready to accept students interested in expanding their creative experience in the visual arts. This association promotes imagination, creativity and the production of new ideas. Students do not need to have any experience with art to join this club - just a desire to create and express themselves!
- The Waterfront and Outdoor Club offers lessons to students interested in learning basic canoeing, kayaking and sailing skills. Club members travel off campus to train on the lake. The eduaction includes briefings on safety, bonfires, tree care, survival skills, hiking and much more.
- Home Economics is a club where students cook, sew, knit, and learn how to run a household. Three teachers participate in the events, and each of them can teach students their experiences.
- The Chinese Language Club is open at lunchtime on Wednesdays when the academy kitchen prepares Chinese cuisine, and is run by Chinese students.
- Basketball and badminton clubs educate on Mondays and Thursdays.

The Academy campus is located on the shores of Lake Shonigan on one of Canada's most beautiful and culturally significant islands. The nearest town to the school is Victoria: it can be reached in a few minutes by car or public transport.
On campus there are:

The presence of a coastline is one of the features of the campus. Shonigan allows students to relax, learn to swim, and hold a barbecue. Students can visit the lake under the supervision of teachers for safety purposes.
Admission dates and extra charges
Students intending to reside on campus arrive at the school on September 4 from 8:00 to 12:00. They can stay on campus every weekend except vacations.
The academic year contains:
- First trimester: 7 September-17 December
- Second trimester: 10 January-11 March
- Third trimester: March 28-June 28.
Holidays in which residences are closed:
- 19 December-9 January
- March 13-27.
