School Schule Birklehof is one of the most prestigious schools in the region of the three boundaries of the Black Forest. The educational institution is not far from Freiburg. The private school of Birkloff was founded in the 20th century by Kurt Khan. Today, it is actively developing.

The school mainly learns Germans. Only 10% of the seats are foreign students. Teaching is conducted in German. In a private gymnasium a great atmosphere was created for the success of schoolchildren. Living and learning international students are offered in a comfortable environment.

The school honors the tradition of progressive educational reforms, conducted almost a hundred years ago. The concept was tested by practice and time. The principle of this concept is delegating a part of the managerial authority to the student school council.

There are two educational directions in the school: secondary school, Abitur. The latter is the German alternative to the British program A-Level.

Entry conditions

You can enroll in a German prestigious gymnasium at any stage of the studying course. To do this, you need to speak German at a level not lower than Upper Intermediate. Enrollment is based on the results of the interview and academic performance, according to the statement from the card or the certificate (for Abitur program).

• The housing stock includes 10 comfortable buildings. Separate accommodation is offered at the school. One hostel, the Unterhaus, is designed for boys and girls 5-7 years of studying. Children are accommodated on different floors.
• The school offers double rooms with private facilities. Senior students are allowed single occupancy.
• The meals in Birklhof are full board. National German, European dishes are served in the school cafeteria.

Schule Birklehof offers not only secondary, high school programs, but also a large number of extracurricular activities. All conditions for sports and creative development are created here. In the summer, active sports fan are offered hockey on the grass, horse riding, rugby, football, badminton, volleyball, orienteering, cycling, rock climbing, golf, rowing, tennis. In winter, foreign students can snowboarding or ski. Intellectual clubs and creative sections work year-round.

Students can optionally attend classes in pottery, filmmaking, photography, handicrafts. Also for the pupils there is a vocal, theatrical circle. Moreover, at school there is an orchestra, a choir, a musical collective.
