Description of Maynooth University Summer School

Maynooth University Summer School is an excellent choice for studying English during summer holidays. Vacational programs in the school provide students with high-quality academic preparation, a lot of entertainment, cognitive trips, sports. The school has a family atmosphere, every foreign student becomes a part of student community, united by a common goal.

Highly qualified teachers, certified for teaching in international groups, work in the language school. Each teacher is a native speaker of classical English. Teachers inspire students to academic development, help them to understand linguistic peculiarities of common English, form right pronunciation.

We have a designated medical team and facilities to handle emergencies. All staff members are trained in basic first aid, and we have protocols in place for contacting medical professionals and parents in case of an emergency.

Short information about standard English course for the development of general language skills, providing for the choice of additional options (sports, creativity).

The academic program of the course includes 20 lessons of English weekly. Students develop common language skills, study grammar, phonetics, vocabulary, practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Most of the classes are interactive. Lessons are held in the form of coaching, games, discussions, etc.

Additional options are available within the course:

  • English + drama -  in addition to the basic two-week course, students are offered 15 lessons of dramatic art. Classes are supported by the Gaiety School of Acting Dublin.
  • English + sports (soccer) - the option includes 5 three-hour football lessons under the guidance of coaches qualified for UEFA.
  • Requirements for admission: the level of English is from 0 to C.
  • The result of the studying: improvement of spoken English, mastering of communicative skills, sporting, creative development, acquaintance with the culture of Ireland.
  • Class size: 15 people .
  • Lesson duration: 45 minutes.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school offers accommodation in apartments in a cozy residence. Students are provided with 1-2-bedded furnished rooms. Facilities, living room, kitchen are shared. The residence also has a dining room, a cafeteria.

During holidays, students eat on a full board basis. Irish, European dishes are served in the school cafeteria.

Subjects and sports

Activities Maynooth University Summer School

Summer programs in the school provides many extracurricular activities. Sports fans are expected to sail, rugby, to play volleyball, basketball, football. Students wishing to relax on nature can go for a walk around beautiful surroundings of the campus. Evening activities will not allow students to get bored in the school during their free time. Discos, contests, quizzes, dance master classes and creative evenings are included in the leisure program.

There are also three cognitive activities per week. Two excursions take half a day, allowing to get acquainted with sights of Dublin. One field excursion takes the whole day. Visitors to Ireland are offered many historical attractions, from medieval castles to unique complexes of the late XIX century.

Daily routine

The schedule depends on the chosen program. Lessons are held before and after lunch.

- the deadline normally closes in January, for TOP HEIs and, as a rule, in March in other universities

- for Masters you need a graduated higher education, in some cases you need a pre-Masters program
- MBA requires completed higher education, work experience preferably at least 2-3 years, etc.
