ATC Language and Travel is a language educational center that has been operating in Ireland for more than 30 years. This educational organization is considered one of the most famous in the country and makes summer camps for learning English for students. The territory of the holding traditionally becomes the country's leading educational institutions - schools, colleges and universities.

One of the summer ATC educational programs takes place on the campus of the Irish school-boarding school Rathdown School. This school is also one of the oldest in the country, since it was founded in 1973. In such a summer school, foreign students aged 9 to 14 years can not only improve their English skills, but also have an unforgettable time, and make new friends - from Ireland and not only.

General English Course (Junior Summer Course)

  • Age of students: from 9 to 14 years
  • Duration of the program: from 2 weeks.

As part of the summer program, students undergo an educational course consisting of 15 hours of English + extra-curricular activities. Here the students will receive knowledge in all key areas of the English language - conversation, reading, grammar, spelling, learning new words. The main number of classes takes place in creative style, that is, using quizzes, games and other interactive communication formats.

Classes begin on Mondays. On the day of arrival, all students undergo in-depth testing, which helps the staff to determine the language level of each student and distribute it to a group with an appropriate level. Groups are usually small - up to 15 people - that helps teachers to work productively with each of the students. After completing the course, students receive a certificate of listening to the program, but this only happens if the student has attended all the activities provided by the program.

Accommodation, meals, prices

To stay during the course the school offers students two options:

  • Residence of the educational institution;
  • The host family.

In the hostel on campus students are accommodated in rooms for 3-4 people, on the floor there is a common bathroom. In the territory of each building there is also Wi-Fi.

In the house of the Irish family, students are accommodated in 2-bed rooms. Usually host families live no more than 30 minutes from the school campus. Students get home at the place of study and back on public transport. For convenience, they can purchase a ticket for the period of study.

On nutrition issues the distribution is as follows: the students of the residence are fed on a full board basis in the local canteen, that is, three times a day. On weekends and during retreats, each student receives a packed lunch. Students who choose to live in the family, Monday to Friday breakfast and dinner in the family circle, and lunch is held in the company of fellow students. Staff Rathdown School asks parents to inform in advance about possible allergies of the student or the need to comply with a separate diet.

In addition to studying the language of the summer camp students, there will be an extensive excursion program, sports and evening entertainment.

As for the excursions, it can be two trips a week for half a day, and one - for a full day. As part of the evening program, the guys will take part in various games, quizzes, discos, will sing in karaoke and so on.

In addition, for students of the summer school Rathdown College, several times a week, classes are held together with Irish students. Such integration is organized for a better immersion on Wednesday - the guys together are engaged in sports, applied activities, creativity, cooking and not only.

Facilities and equipment at ATC Rathdown Summer School Dublin

Rathdown College (ATC) is located in the suburbs of Dublin, in the small town of Glengiri. This is a picturesque quiet place with a view of the Wicklow mountains and the Irish Sea. The school has an impressive territory, on which are located educational buildings (these are beautiful buildings of the beginning of the XIX century), sports grounds for practicing a wide variety of sports, and in general the entire infrastructure is organized very conveniently. In addition, from Glenaniri, you can easily get to Dublin, having covered a distance of 12 km by bus or by high-speed education DART.

Admission dates and extra charges

The summer educational program for students in Rathdown College opens a set of students in the last days of June, and curricula are completed in late July (approximately from June 28 to July 30).

Any student with an English language proficiency level - from A1 (Elementary) to C1 (Advanced) according to the European classification of foreign language proficiency levels - can go to study at a summer camp.
