Maynooth University (NUIM)

A well-known Irish school is Maynooth University (NUIM). It is a government institution that was founded in 1795 as St Patrick's College, Maynooth. And in 1997 the school acquired the status of the National University of Ireland Maynooth.

At the moment in the rating of their country the university is in the TOP 10 of the best educational institutions. The list of the best international institutions takes 615 position. In 2011, the National University of Ireland Maynooth became the first and only institution outside the United States to be included in the Princeton survey of the best colleges. NUIM also participated in the Microsoft Imagine Cup for the first time in 2007. The university has repeatedly received the first places in the final Imagine Cup Ireland.

The Maynooth University campus is territorially located in the city of Maynooth. It is divided into the Northern Campus and the South Campus. Earlier they were connected with the help of a pedestrian bridge, and now - a pedestrian crossing. The campus is equipped with everything necessary for education and leisure: sports complexes and grounds, gyms, research centers and institutes, a library, and a hostel for foreign citizens.

To date, the institution has more than 100 clubs and societies. Most of them are designed for various sports - for example: tennis, rugby, swimming, Gaelic football, badminton, archery, golf, hockey, handball, chess, etc. Students are often participants in international sports competitions. Also there are creative clubs, for example: vocal, theatrical, oratorical, dance and others. In other words, every student can find a community for himself.

National University of Ireland Maynooth is part of the European University Association.

The school year is classically divided into two semesters. The tuition fee is about 14000 USD / year. The University has three faculties:

• Art, Celtic Studies and Philosophy;
• Science and technology;
• Social Sciences.

Faculties, in turn, are divided into different schools and departments.

In total, the institution simultaneously educates more than 8000 students (foreign citizens account for 10% of the total number of students). The teaching staff numbers about 500 teachers. Maynooth University supports an educational program for the exchange of students and teachers. The center includes the following institutions:

• The Irish Climate Analysis and Research Center (ICARUS) is designed to improve the scientific understanding of climate change and its consequences;
• Center of Immunology;
• Center Hamilton;
• The National Institute for Regional and Spatial Analysis - founded in Maynooth University;
• The Callan Institute (formerly the Center for Microelectronics and Wireless Systems) - provides research in the field of electronic and software systems and wireless communications;
• The National Geocomputing Center is the leading international research center in the field of geocomputing;
• Foras Feasa - Institute for the Study of Irish Historical and Cultural Traditions;
• The Institute for Innovative Values (IVI) is a joint research institute founded by the University of Maynooth and Intel.
