What advice would you give to future applicants before applying to British schools and why?

Understand the school’s ethos and ensure it aligns with your goals. I would further advise students to prioritise their English language studies in preparation for the entrance testing phase.

When looking at applicants, we consider not only the academic record and entrance exam performance, but also students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate character and potential for growth.

A-level

Kensington Park School is distinguished by a strong and effective academic preparation for middle and high school students, especially at the Sixth Form stage. At school, the main program for students aged 16-18 years is A-level, the gold standard of British education, which gives an opportunity to enter even the most elite and privileged universities without additional entrance examinations and tests.

A-level is designed for 2 academic years. All subjects students choose independently, there is no list of compulsory disciplines here: this makes it possible to prepare as efficiently as possible for enrollment in the chosen faculty and specialty, and pay close attention to the most priority scientific areas. For the first year (AS-level), students choose 4-5 disciplines, of which only the most important 3-4 remain.

Items can be selected from the following list:

  • biology
  • Film Studies (film and film production)
  • Government & Politics
  • chemistry
  • art and design
  • Computer Science and Informatics (ICT)

The teachers of the program are qualified, experienced specialists, mostly specializing only in the A-level program and working as examiners at the final tests of this course. In each class there are no more than 10 people; additional eduactionincludes thematic lectures, discussions, master classes and useful excursions, visits to interesting museums, galleries and universities.

The school has the opportunity to pass both a classical A-level course with a length of 2 years, an accelerated one-year course, and a 5-semester program (for students coming in January, not in September).

The academic year at Kensington Park School, like in other British schools, is divided into 3 terms:

Review about Kensington Park School

Lyudmila K.
(20.01.2023)
A small school in central London. Our daughter studied here for 2 years while we worked in London. Of the advantages: convenient location, well-equipped classrooms, active use of new technologies, responsive staff and a good national composition. Even with a not very good level of English, the child felt comfortable, as there was a strong program of additional language training, which dealt with all complex issues. For 2 years, my daughter was able to significantly improve her English and now she no longer needs additional English classes.

We sent my daughter to the A Level Revision course in the spring of 2021. The program turned out to be useful, a large amount of material was passed in 2, the daughter said that after this course she was able to understand those topics that were difficult for her to understand in the main course. In the end, she also passed the exams well. We took mathematics, biology and chemistry. There is an opportunity to take more items, but since time was short, we decided to concentrate on the most important ones for us.

(07.12.2021)
The school was introduced at the Smapps exhibition back in 2019. Initially, we were looking for options only in London, since I (my mother) wanted to go with the children (the youngest at that time was 10, the oldest was 14). In England, there is an opportunity for a parent to go with a child if he is not yet 12 years old. In our case, this could have been done, so we took the opportunity. On the recommendation of the consultant, Smapps chose this option, since the location turned out to be the most convenient for us. In the fall of 2020, the eldest child began his studies at Kensington and, at the moment, has been studying there for more than a year. I can say that almost all our expectations from the school were justified. Partly due to the fact that our manager Elena organized a virtual tour before admission, and we already had a more or less normal idea of the school. As for studying, I can say that children are loaded decently, but this is a big plus in my opinion, since the tasks are interesting, often creative. In Russia, of course, there is a different approach. We're going to have to rebuild.
