One of the members of the prestigious association Swiss Hotel Association, Jacques Tschumi, founded the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, where for the first time they began to educate professionals in these areas, without intermediate qualifications and unnecessary subjects. Today the school carefully preserves historical traditions and simultaneously builds education on innovative techniques and cutting-edge equipment, sensitively catching all world tendencies and becoming the legislator of new trends. Today, the Lausanne School of Hotel Management is part of the prestigious EHL Group (established in 2015): this group develops education in the sphere of hotel management and services, ensures transparency of this work area, actively strengthens international partnership between states and educational institutions. Bachelor's program

Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management

The duration of study in the main higher education program is 4 academic years. Studying is possible in both English and French. The program is divided into annual stages:

  • The first course, the preparatory

Here students get acquainted with various specialties of the chosen sphere, study a common wide range of subjects and directions in order to further more accurately determine their specific work. This is an introductory year, devoted to a detailed acquaintance with the peculiarities of the industry, combining both theoretical and practical exercises. Despite the "introductory" nature of the year, it still ends with a semi-annual practice: students work in a hotel or restaurant, starting to apply and check the theoretical knowledge gained in practice, to work individually and in groups. Students can organize events, celebrations or banquets, work in the kitchen, bakery or bar, learn how to manage the hotel, starting with the smallest units and subtleties.

Students are assisted by well-deserved, experienced professional practitioners-for example, the gastronomic restaurant team, which ranks 15th in the world ranking of Gault & Millau. You can learn good taste and manners, on "living" examples to understand the features of high cuisine and luxe class service, to study the enology and the rules of the combination of foods and dishes.

  • The second course

The list of subjects for study remains basically the same, but the study deepens, becomes more complex, thorough and professional. Much attention is paid to business disciplines: business law, business practices, marketing and management, accounting and audit.

  • The third year

The most intensive, in-depth study of business and finance, marketing and management of the organization at all levels and in all aspects. Students actively participate in numerous projects, teamwork and research, honing their skills on practical assignments. For this year, the second internship (also 6 months) is planned, but already in the position of manager, not junior staff, as it was in the first preparatory year.

  • The fourth course

Students are identified with the future specialty and direction, devote the maximum time to studying the profile, the most priority disciplines and write the final qualifying work (diploma).

In addition to internships, students are given the opportunity to fully consult on career development and future employment (the consulting course is designed for 10 weeks).
