Description of Basel School of Business, BSB

Established in 2012, this educational institution is situated in both Basel and Zurich, Switzerland. The primary language of instruction is English.

The Basel School of Business (BSB) is more than just a business school; it's a vibrant community that values diverse talents, individuality, and aims to prepare future leaders in the international business arena. BSB is an integral part of Weinberg United.

Here, education transcends mere knowledge transfer. Students are nurtured to cultivate curiosity, a passion for acquiring new skills, and the encouragement of creativity and critical thinking, all while upholding strong ethical principles. Learning extends beyond the classroom, providing international exposure, collaborative opportunities, and promising career prospects for students.

Throughout their academic journey, students are guided by experienced teachers who assist them in navigating the rigorous and intricate aspects of their studies. These mentors offer unwavering support, guidance, and inspiration.

The Basel School of Business began its journey in 2012 when the Weinberg family received official approval from the Basel Parliament to establish an innovative institution of higher education. Since then, its core mission and values have remained unchanged: to provide relevant, practical, and engaging business education that fosters the development of ethical and responsible global business leaders. The programs are carefully designed to align with the demands of the modern business world and the international market, emphasizing innovation, mutual respect, and social responsibility.

In 2014, the Basel School of Business relocated to its present central city location. In 2015, the institution was awarded the Eduqua certificate, a Swiss quality mark for educational institutions, and celebrated its first batch of bachelor's degree and MBA graduates. In 2017, the Basel School of Business earned a nomination for accreditation by the IACBE (International Council for Accreditation of Business Education), ultimately achieving this prestigious accreditation in 2018, gaining international recognition and renown in the process. Since 2020, the campus has also been home to GermanPLUS, a program offering language classes and integration activities aimed at helping students immerse themselves in Swiss culture. In 2023, the Zurich Business School joined the Weinberg United network, expanding opportunities for students, including those at the Basel School of Business, and increasing course availability.

At the Basel School of Business, while traditional assessment methods are used, the emphasis is placed on evaluating practical skills, which can be showcased through presentations, in-depth research projects, collaborative group endeavors, and more.

Educational process

Basel School of Business uses PEL's unique pedagogical approach – "Experiential Hands-On Learning". This helps to turn dry theory into relevant, useful information, provides students with real experience in the learning process like a continuous internship.

PEL provides a real immersion in the world of business - these are:

  • Development of marketing plans,
  • Organization of specialized events,
  • Organization of discussions with business leaders,
  • Effective solution of emerging problems,
  • Practical projects of each student and groups on real scenarios, etc.

The Basel School of Business, through PEL, aims to bring together industry-specific curricula, small class sizes, and a strong internal community to give students real-world work experience even before graduation.

An important advantage of PEL is that, thanks to the constant testing of theory in practice, it educates humane, ethical leaders who are able to make business an engine of positive changes in society as a whole, to promote sustainable and fair development of society.

Employers really appreciate the PEL approach, as it provides them with specialists who can start working effectively immediately after graduation from the university and employment, they do not need time to "build up". Graduates who have used the PEL method for education have a deep understanding of real business problems, are able to work with industry partners, practice innovative and critical thinking in any task, and are not afraid to be proactive.
