Accommodation, meals, prices

For students of the school there are several comfortable accommodation options within the French Riviera - you can choose the most convenient and acceptable option for yourself.

  • Host French family

Best option for students under 18 years old, for those who for the first time independently travel abroad, or for those who want to constantly communicate with native speakers of French and better to learn their customs and culture. Language and speech skills are enhanced every day due to constant communication with French speakers! You can try traditional dishes (meal plan can be half board or only breakfast), and also to estimate the French everyday life - rooms are offered for 1-2 people, bathroom and kitchen are offered for common use.

  • Apartment rent

The school has two comfortable apartments in Montreux: they have rooms for 1-2 people, free access to the Internet, there are washing machines, all kitchen appliances and inventory, TV, as well as a balcony with a beautiful view. The road to school will take no more than 10 minutes in both cases.

  • Studio

Compact and comfortable studios are located no more than 10 minutes from the school. This is an option for the most independent students who value privacy and comfort. Each studio accommodates only 1-2 people: there is TV and free internet access, separate bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.

  • Hotels, guest houses and pensions

In Montreux its environs do not find hotels for every taste and financial opportunity: you can choose a modest hostel, or stay at the small boutique hotel B & amp; B. The school team will be able to choose the best option for each student, depending on his wishes: the hotels are located either on the shore of the lake or at the foot of the mountains, in the city center or in its historical part, in lively and calm, respectable areas. The cost of living in this case is specified individually.

Activities Alpadia Montreux School

Montreux and the entire Riviera are a real storehouse of impressions, even for a sophisticated traveler. The leisure program will be an excellent addition to the educational course: this will help not only to have fun, but also to learn many new historical and cultural facts, as well as to consolidate the knowledge gained in the classroom in free, unconstrained conditions, in the process of live communication.

Many sports are available, the activity set varies according to the seasonality of the course: it can be a paddle board, mountain bike, paragliding, rock climbing, sailing or alpine skiing. Choose to your taste! If you come to the courses in winter, you can enjoy the infrastructure of the nearby ski resort of Port du Soleil. Here, all sorts of tracks for skiing and snowboarding, numerous ice rinks and ice slides, the opportunity to be like snowshoes are provided.

The excursion program should start with a visit to the legendary castle of Chillon, stroll along the Lake Geneva (note the ancient amazing steamers - many of them are already a hundred years old!) and its picturesque embankments. From March to September in Montreux and the surrounding area, there are many cultural festivals, especially music: the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Kyu Jazz Festival and the Paleo Nyon.

Review about Alpadia Montreux School

Anna H.
(review about school Alpadia Montreux)

Liked! I took a French course, I took individual classes - all courses are flexible, you can change as you need.

Of course, it would be more logical to study French in France, but somehow I didn’t want to go to the provinces, but in Paris the situation with the locals is not very good, so I considered Canada and Switzerland. Getting to Switzerland turned out to be easier, so the increased cost of the course was leveled by the cost of tickets.

Very pleasant teachers: I confess, for me this is the first foreign language course. I don’t know how they manage to remain both benevolent and demanding, but the whole group worked, moreover in good faith and not from sticks. Most of teachers are up to 40 years old, young and interesting - it was nice to talk after class if they had an opportunity. Many people know 2-4 foreign languages, and not only teach native as carriers - of course, this is very cool and useful for me as a student. Everything is studied exclusively in conversational form, audio and video materials are constantly being used (equipment of the school allows), a lot of listening lessons (which was hard at first, of course).

I did not notice a direct emphasis on grammar, to admit - rather, the program for those who want to learn how to communicate well is to speak and communicate (although I suspect that if you take a more intensive course or “Preparing for the university”, there will be more academic ). I took individual classes in order to eliminate the accent - again, spoken French (although from my group two more took one-to-one - one for vocabulary (vocabulary), the other for grammar just).

In general, the optimal universal course for everyone: groups are divided according to the level of basic knowledge, so do not be afraid to get to the very smart or very weak group.

Smapse, special thanks for your help in the selection and fast collection of documents: I literally a couple of times in the office I brought the paper and put signatures, the rest was done by myself.
