Embassy Summer Schools: English in Perfection

English language studying at Embassy Summer schools is conducted on the basis of a special educational program. When forming the studying groups, the actual level of knowledge of the incoming is determined, which makes it possible to optimize the learning process.

At Embassy Summer, you will learn how to speak, to write in linguistically literate English, and to understand the language of "live" communication.

The steps of the educational process

Test phase. The students need to pass an interview and perform a number of tasks:

  • Oral practical work (vocabulary definition and degree of understanding of the language);
  • Written work.

Depending on the results of the entrance tests, the student is assigned a certain level (from the initial "0" - Beginner to the maximum "5" - Advanced). Groups are formed by belonging to one of them (not more than 15 people). Since students from all over the world are studying at Embassy Summer schools, groups are international.

The process of teaching in schools is controlled by the Director of Studies - the Director of the curriculum. Teachers with high qualifications in the subject "foreign language" work with students. The methodology of Embassy Summer allows not only to achieve linguistic freedom within a certain level, but also to speedily improve their skills at higher levels.

During classes, and this 15 hours a week for 4 hours a day, students:

  • Perform exercises for the practicing of oral speech;
  • Are working to consolidate listening skills;
  • Write works to check the grammar of the language.

Students can use educational literature, improve their conversational and lexical skills with the help of provided software equipment, an extensive library.

According to the tradition already established, the school curriculum starts on Sunday, the classes begin directly from Monday (except for days coinciding with public holidays).

English club

Within the walls of Embassy Summer, an English club has been created where fans of English culture and history can improve their language practice by understanding the creative aspects of their great literary and political figures that were not covered by School activities.

Members of Culture Club - this is the official name of this community - participate in scientific research, listen to lectures, visit unique places in their own way, where masterpieces of world culture and art were born. Listening to stories, taking notes, strolling through the streets of cities that are famous for their residents: Shakespeare, Wilde, Kipling and Bronte - it is easier to experience the subtle nuances of the English language, its historical value.

Examination tests

Before May 30 of each calendar year, all students of Embassy Summer schools can apply for examinations. To do this, you need to reserve a certain time, not forgetting to indicate what level of competence is to be protected.

In front of Trinity Exam (an exam conducted at Trinity College), all students can attend preparatory courses.

During the exam, the student communicates with the examiner one-on-one, and tries to demonstrate knowledge to the teacher by performing oral and written assignments. A 12-point scale is used for the assessment, which corresponds to the Common European Frame of Reference (CEFR) standard recognized in the European Union.

The cost of the program includes:

  • Classes;
  • Out-of-class leisure (sports, entertainment);
  • Accommodation;
  • Meals (three meals a day, in the days of excursions - packed lunch);
  • Excursions (from 2Ñ… up to 6 excursions per week, optional).

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students are offered a family accommodation. Its main advantage is the opportunity to get to know the culture of Canadians and become immersed in the language environment. In families, students are offered 1-2-bed rooms and meals on half board (lunch is provided in the school cafeteria). The road from home to school usually takes no more than an hour. It is most convenient to get there by metro. The station is a minute's walk from the School.

Travel time to major airports and train stations:

The transfer from Pearson Airport (YYZ) takes 20 minutes.

English classes, activities (including board games and creative activities), accommodation, meals (three times a day, during tours dry rations are given), compulsory excursions - all this is already included in the course price.
