Embassy Summer School in Canterbury is an excellent place to study English in a quiet, almost family atmosphere. Embassy Summer School in Canterbury is based on the campus of the University of Kent. It accepts students from June to August. Teenagers 12-17 years old can study summer programs.

Embassy Summer courses are aimed at students who want to improve English in a short time. Entry requirements for Embassy Summer are standard. Courses are opened to students with any level of English, from beginner to advanced. The school offers classes in groups of 15 people. In each lesson, students improve their listening and speaking skills.

Embassy Summer employs highly qualified English teachers. Each of them has an international certificate confirming the right to teach the language as a foreign language. The Director of Studies has a high pedagogical qualification.

Features of studying at Embassy Summer

The school offers a 15-hour weekly tutorial. The workload is 4 lessons per day. Classes are held in the middle groups, which provides an opportunity to effectively use the communicative method of teaching English. Classes are formed from representatives of different nationalities. Intercultural environment promotes the development of communication skills.

Students receive textbooks at each lesson. There is no need to acquire additional literature. At school for solving educational problems there is everything you need. In particular, the process of studying at Embassy Summer can be called a technological one.

The school starts on Sundays. Classes are held from Monday to Friday. In the first lesson, students undergo a screening test. According to its results, students are divided into groups.

Culture Club at Embassy Summer

At the school, electives are offered for those wishing to improve their English skills in an informal setting and to learn more about British culture. A series of interesting lectures are held in Culture Club. Also, the optional program provides for the participation of club members in discussions and debates for the development of English skills.

Trinity Exam

Embassy Summer students can take a test from Trinity College. The exam is evaluated on a 12-point scale, conducted in one-on-one format. The student will demonstrate skills in understanding English speech and speaking. The Trinity Exam ranking is in accordance with the CEFR standard. Any student who speaks English at the level from elementary to advanced can pass the exam. To attend preparatory lessons, the opportunity is provided to all students of the school, regardless of whether they pass the test at the end or not.

Those who wish to pass Trinity Exam must book the program before May 30th. When booking, you must specify the appropriate option in the electronic request.

The price of the program includes:

  • Out-of-class leisure (sports, entertainment);
  • Accommodation;
  • Meals (three meals a day, in the days of excursions - packed lunch);
  • Excursions (from 2Ñ… up to 6 excursions per week, optional).

Embassy Summer Canterbury offers the following accommodation options near the school:

  • In a single room with conveniences in a guarded residence;
  • In a standard room in a student dormitory (the bathroom, kitchen, laundry are in common use).

Students eat in the school cafeteria. Here, the order of meals is established, each student specifies a certain time.

Travel time to the main airports and train stations

From British airports and train stations it takes 50 minutes - 2 hours to get to the school. The fastest way to get to the school grounds is from LGW (London Gatwick). Around 1.3-2 hours it takes to get to the school from from Heathrow, Stansted, from St. Pancras Station.

English lessons, activities (including board games and creative activities), accommodation, meals (three times a day, during excursions are given a dry ration), compulsory excursions - all this is already included in the course price.

Events

The extensive entertainment program of the school is represented by daytime, evening activities. Sports fans can do football, cricket, basketball, play tennis, volleyball, badminton, take dance lessons in a specialized studio. From unsportsmanlike events, arts, crafts, adventure programs, theater are popular. In the evening students are offered:

  • Discos;
  • Blind dates;
  • Karaoke;
  • Fashion shows and etc.

The excursion program is also included in the cost of language courses. Every week, students are offered one trip per day and half a day. Additionally, students can visit Canterbury.

Out of the field excursions, the most interesting are to London, Cambridge, the famous university atmosphere, the seaside Hastings, the visiting card of England - Oxford, rich in sights. Of the thematic excursions, students most often choose Buckingham Palace, Thorpe Park, Shakespeare Theater, Ferris Wheel and prison in London, aquarium, Royal Pavilion in Brighton.

The school has modern lecture rooms. In general, there are large rooms, where you can relax during the breaks. Internet access is available at an additional cost. The output to the network is carried out from several computers in the academic building. The sports infrastructure of the school is represented by a large hall, dance studio, several tennis courts, indoor playgrounds for team games.
