Education information

Reasons to study at private schools in Switzerland

Switzerland provides foreign students with an opportunity to study under the program of any of the world's major educational systems: British, American, German, French, Swiss. The IB (International Baccalaureate) program is one of the most popular with students from all over the world. As a result, graduates of Swiss schools have the opportunity to choose any country in the world to get higher education.

Study English in Switzerland

Switzerland provides a great choice of studying foreign languages. At least two official languages of the country are studied in schools, therefore, in addition to receiving a certificate of secondary education in Switzerland, the child becomes a real polyglot. The main one is English and students choose additional languages that draws their attention.

Multiculturalism with an elite tinge is another advantage of studying at private schools in Switzerland. Children of German politicians, industrialists and bankers, Arab princes, American media moguls and superstars go to Switzerland to study. All of them are future classmates of your child.

Almost absolute safety of studying in Switzerland, mild climate, comfortable living environment, regardless of the type of educational institution, accommodation option, region of the country. The local climate and natural conditions improve health.

Any kind of activity available after class, from painting and music to equestrian or sailing. The opportunity to do all this practically without leaving the walls of the educational institution, thanks to the excellent equipment and well-thought-out infrastructure.

British and American private schools in Switzerland to study English

Among both Swiss and foreign students, the second most popular are the British and American sections in secondary schools, where teaching is carried out according to the corresponding national curriculum. It is to these sections that foreign parents most often send their children to study.

Studying in the British program implies specialization in 5-10 main subjects after 14 years, which the student intensively studies, in order to pass the exam for the certificate of secondary education - GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) after two years. Students planning to then continue their studies at the university need to spend another two years at school on the A-level pre-university program. There they specialize in 4-5 disciplines, which will then lay the foundation for their profile studies at the university.

This program is suitable for those wishing to continue their studies in the UK. After it, it is much easier for teenagers to enter, for example, Oxford or Cambridge. In addition to British, American and combined Anglo-American sections in high schools, Switzerland also has separate purely British schools such as St. Georges School, American and Anglo-American schools such as TASIS the American School and Aiglon College. Initially these prestigious schools were founded by the British and Americans for the children of their compatriots living in Switzerland, but now their doors are open to students from all over the world. It is to be expected that the cost of tuition in top schools will exceed the cost of tuition in similar schools in Britain, but this money will definitely not be wasted.

Upon graduation from British secondary school in Switzerland, they issue a certificate of secondary education - GCSE (in the international version - iGCSE). Two years of high school give A-Levels. With such a diploma, your child will be admitted to UK universities without additional preparatory programs.

The oldest school in Switzerland offering a British program is St. George's School in Clarence (Montreux), founded in 1927 to educate girls. Today, both girls and boys from 3 to 19 years old are taught here, and the reputation of this educational institution is impeccable.
