Bromley High is a school with 140 years of tradition, confidently looking to the future. It was founded in January 1883 and was one of the first public day schools for women, founded in the late Victorian era. The founders of the school aimed to give women a modern and diverse academic education that went beyond the defined female role of Victorian society.

Since its inception, the school has educated female students to cross boundaries. Today, among the priorities of education are global perspectives and understanding of responsibility for a common future, open-mindedness, inclusiveness and fearlessness.

The school collaborates with local primary schools on digital leadership projects and the SHINE project for gifted and talented students. Older girls volunteer with seniors, charity projects and special schools. As part of the Sports Leadership program, girls work with marjorie McClure special school students and elementary school students.

Educational process

Students of the school consistently demonstrate excellent academic results. So, in 2022, 34% of students reached the level of A +, 68% - A / A +, 91% - B / A +.

In 2018, the school received a national award for "Best STEM Provision in UK Schools".

Grades 1 and 2 of primary school are based on the basic knowledge gained in kindergarten. Students here develop the skills of writing, reading and counting, which makes it easy to master other disciplines. Every week there are classes with subject specialists in computer science, French, music and physical education.

In grades 3-6, education changes its focus, one of the key areas is to stimulate responsibility and independence. Girls receive the support of the school, developing the skills of applying the acquired knowledge to create a holistic picture of the world and solve problems. Activities Bromley High School

Bromley actively uses the green area as an additional space for outdoor learning. One of these events is the Forest School for junior classes up to and including 4.

In addition, Bromley offers a dynamic and diverse program of creative and music clubs.

  • Academic clubs are designed to enrich education and provide stimulating opportunities outside of the traditional curriculum. There are linguistic clubs that allow you to get acquainted with the culture of other countries and replenish vocabulary in French, Spanish and Portuguese, an ancient and classical club, where children study ancient mythology and learn Latin;
  • Sports clubs offer both individual and collective activities, including cross-country running, cricket and netball, hockey and football, swimming and athletics;
  • Creative clubs develop creativity and help generate new ideas. Girls can do photography, drawing, drawing or painting, write and tell stories, devote themselves to theater or drama;

Facilities and equipment at Bromley High School

Originally located on Elmfield Lane, the building moved to Blackbrook Lane in 1980. Specialized educational facilities located on 25 acres of land have been designed in accordance with the requirements of modernity; each building has its own entrance group and covered passages connecting the buildings with each other.

Inside there are scientific laboratories and a digital center, a large and modern library, studios of art, design and food technologies, platforms for theatrical and dance performances, an innovative zone for joint learning.

The campus offers access to facilities such as:

  • Spacious swimming pool with 25-meter tracks and towers for diving;
  • Modern halls for fitness, simulators, physical education and athletics;
  • Running tracks and athletics stadium;
  • Illuminated indoor fields for football, tennis, softball.

Admission dates and extra charges

The monthly school lunch fee is £255; lunches are compulsory for students up to grade 11, Sixth Form meals are optional.

When submitting an application, the parents of the student pay a non-refundable registration fee of £ 125, and when enrolling - a deposit of £ 1500; it is refundable at the end of school (less any amounts due to the school).

Enrolment process

The admission process begins with the completion of an electronic application. Admission is carried out on a competitive basis, priority is given to applicants whose applications were received earlier.

At the end of the term, all applicants will be invited for evaluation; applicants who have successfully passed the competitive selection will receive an offer. The selection is based on academic success, the student's compatibility with the Bromley School community.

89% of graduates enter the universities of first choice; 62% go to Oxbridge or Russel Group universities.

Scholarships Bromley High School

The school awards scholarships to high school (11+) and Sixth Form students whose skills and talents in the academic, artistic, dramatic, musical and sports fields it deems necessary to encourage.

In addition to honours scholarships, the school also offers a small number of need-tested scholarships covering up to 100% of the tuition fees.
