Each House is led by an 8th grade boy or girl with one or more vice-captains. The houses are named after birds of prey and are associated with the color seen on T-shirts worn to home sports matches and music competitions: eagles (yellow), falcons (red), hawks (green) and kestrels (blue).

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

One of the prerequisites for admission to Hall Grove School is the child's learning attitude: it is important that applicants are well motivated, have the potential to achieve the learning outcomes set by the teaching staff, and can quickly adapt to the educational and social demands of a carefully structured and eventful school day.

Hall Grove School works closely with both parents and any preschool, crèche, or school that children currently attend to determine a child's eligibility for school entry.

Pupils are assessed in English and mathematics and their interactions with peers are observed. Hall Grove requests a report from the child's current school, and suggestions are made before the end of the fall semester. Students applying for places in Grade 4 and above often undergo a short informal interview with a senior school staff member, and may be asked to take a written test to assess the child's potential more thoroughly. The final report is submitted to the director, who makes the final decision.
