Description of Arts Educational School London – ArtsEd

  • Year of foundation: 1919
  • Location: London, United Kingdom
  • Students age: 18+
  • Number of students: more than 200
  • Language of instruction: English
  • Type: full-time school.

The unparalleled independent day school for students aged 11 to 18 has maintained an unwavering dedication for more than a hundred years, providing a diverse and balanced education designed to enable students to realize their educational and creative potential.

ArtsEd is unparalleled; a recognized international leader in the field of education in the field of theater, drama and ballet, a national leader in the UK. Students of the school benefit from a unique and professional program of the highest quality, the conductors of which are dedicated practitioners, whose experience can instill in adolescents a passion for the chosen craft and has an impact on all aspects of academic and personal life without exception.

The history of the school dates back to 1919, when the Grace Cone School was founded, later merged with the Olive Ripman School (founded in 1922). These first two schools of acting were convinced of the need for a strictly academic approach and specialized education in dance, drama, music, and the arts. They considered it necessary to prepare young people for a theatrical or theater-related career. In 1939, the two schools merged into Cones Ripman, later called the School of Aesthetic Education. The success of the educational institution was amazing. Suffice it to say that Markova and Dolin assembled the London Festival Ballet, which later became the English National Ballet Company, from the graduates and students of ArtsEd. In 1986, the school found a new home in the building of the old Chizvik Polytechnic University. Another certificate is a 98% success rate in passing the entrance exams, which is considered the highest indicator among all schools of performing arts in England.

The Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Acting and Musical Theatre demonstrate a magnificent example of modern, inclusive and relevant education, releasing young people who are bombarded with ideas and innovations.

The school prepares its pets for both intense physical and intellectual stress, combining powerful professional eduaction and truly pastoral care. For several decades, ArtsEd graduates have played a crucial role in the success of the country's arts and entertainment sphere: among them there are many high-profile names in the field of directing and production skills, choreography, and many talented performers.

Educational process

Along with the traditional academic program, much attention is paid to individual forms of support. ArtsEd has a day school tutoring group where educators and students work together to plan homework, discuss current affairs, and work on the Personal, Medical, Social, and Economic Education (PSHEE) program.

This format of classes is designed to develop independence and develop emotional intelligence, giving young people practical skills and experience that will help them manage their own lives both today and in the long term.
