The history of the school dates back to 1919, when the Grace Cone School was founded, later merged with the Olive Ripman School (founded in 1922). These first two schools of acting were convinced of the need for a strictly academic approach and specialized education in dance, drama, music, and the arts. They considered it necessary to prepare young people for a theatrical or theater-related career. In 1939, the two schools merged into Cones Ripman, later called the School of Aesthetic Education. The success of the educational institution was amazing. Suffice it to say that Markova and Dolin assembled the London Festival Ballet, which later became the English National Ballet Company, from the graduates and students of ArtsEd. In 1986, the school found a new home in the building of the old Chizvik Polytechnic University.
