Description of Westbourne Private boarding school

Westbourne School is a boarding school, which was founded in 1896 and is divided into:

  • Kindergarten (from 2 years old) and preparatory school (from 4 to 11 years old);
  • Senior (students from 16 to 19 years old) and high school (from 11 to 16 years old);

Westbourne School is a co-educational boarding school, founded in 1896 and comprising two departments:

  • Nursery (from 2 years old) and Prep School (pupils from 4 to 11 years old);
  • Senior (students from 16 to 19 years old) and high school (from 11 to 16 years old).

Located in the one of the "UK’s TOP-10 Places to Live" (Sunday Times), a safe, beautiful and affluent seaside suburb of  Cardiff, Penarth offers the perfect blend of modern metropolis, suburban tranquillity, seaside and countryside. Cardiff airport (20 mins) and Bristol airport (60 mins) offer frequent flights across Europe.

Foreign students are attracted by the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a traditional British school: there is a quota on international pupils at 15-20%. In general, no country has the pre-emptive right to educate students: children from Russia, Germany, Finland, Vietnam, France, China, Spain and Japan are studying here. According to statistics, children from many post-Soviet countries successfully study at the Westbourne School: despite the considerable differences in the educational systems, the pupils quickly adapt to the new conditions and are educated according to the British model. After school pupils can enroll universities or sixth form colleges in UK.

Here there is a warm, friendly, family atmosphere within the boarding school, there is the option to stay in comfortable residences run by traditional British families instead of the boarding house. They follow an individual approach to each student, respect the national values of each student, carefully monitor the safety and comfort of children.

What makes British schools so popular with families around the world?

There are many different schools in Britain: on the one hand, there are the oldest, traditional boarding schools, where world leaders, famous politicians, economists and scientists have been educated for hundreds of years. On the other hand, Britain today has some of the most modern independent schools and colleges you can find! This provides a wide range of choices for any parent - a school can be found that perfectly matches the individual needs and ambitions of the child. Combined with a unique British history and the fact that Britain is home to English - the world's language of science and business - this makes the UK one of the best options for studying abroad.

Review about Westbourne Private boarding school

Olga
(15.12.2021)
With westbourne school began our daughter's education abroad. In the summer of 2019, for the first time, a child was sent to a summer camp at this school. The program was wonderful, the daughter really liked the school itself and the attitude of the teachers. The level of English at that time was B1 and, according to her, she was quite comfortable communicating. A year later, they planned to send her to permanent training, but the pandemic disrupted these plans. To be honest, I did not want to send a child abroad in such an incomprehensible situation, and the incidence rates in England at that time were not very good. But this year we still decided, my daughter began her studies in September. Precautions at school are observed, after arrival children sit in quarantine, take 2 tests. It is also possible to make vaccination a WHO-approved vaccine. We have not done it yet, but we plan that there will be no further difficulties with flights.

The eldest son entered school in 2020. Initially, they selected a not very expensive school in Europe, but on the recommendation of an employee of Smapse, they also decided to consider the UK. As a result, we were more interested in options in England. The level of training there is actually higher, and the difference in price is not so great. We were looking at school options that could give us a small discount on tuition. Based on the results of testing, Westbourne offered us a 5% discount on training. We are very grateful to the school administration and the head of Smapps for giving the child a chance to study at this beautiful educational institution!

I recommend this school to those who are looking for a small school where the child will be given maximum attention. Westbourne enrolled after the International British School in Israel. The level is strikingly different. With English, the child had no problems, since studying from the first grade in English. But mathematics and chemistry have always been difficult. We asked in advance if the school had the opportunity to take additional classes. We were assured that they would be able to organize it. And indeed, now the child is additionally engaged with school teachers 2 times a week. The staff is very attentive to the requests of parents. Questions are answered quickly. I would also like to thank our guardian Elena for her help in organizing communication with the school!

(13.05.2019)
When my daughter finished the 8th grade, for the first time they thought about continuing her education at school abroad. Since there were a lot of questions, we decided to purposefully contact the educational agency for consultation. According to the reviews, we chose the Smpas agency, came to his office for a consultation. Immediately I liked the attitude of the manager: they told us in detail what options there are, listened to our wishes, offered the child to take a free English test and only after that they offered to consider several options for schools. Since English was at level A2-B1, we were asked to consider schools with strong additional support in English. As a priority option, the Westbourne school was proposed. We liked that the school is small, there are not so many Russian-speaking people. The reviews on the internet were also good. There were not many photos of rooms and classrooms on the Internet, we asked our manager to send more. I liked that the school very quickly responded to our request and on the same day they sent a small video, which was specially shot for us by the curator at the school.
