Description of Wellington College Summer Camp

Wellington College - one of the main, the best British boarding schools, was founded in 1859 by Her Majesty Queen Victoria. The college is located on a spacious green campus and in the summer opens a camp for children 10-17 years old from all over the world: surrounded by beautiful old buildings in the French style, it will be easy and pleasant to study. Wellington College Summer Camp is a great opportunity for foreign children to taste the life of a traditional British boarding school, its traditions and routine.

Classic Programme

  • Age: 10-17 years.

The program will allow everyone to improve the level of English and at the same time have a wonderful rest, recharge with new emotions and impressions.

Training course details:

  • Classes up to 15 students
  • 15 lessons per week
  • Introductory testing (online) and group distribution
  • Final test of knowledge and progress
  • Brand certificate at the end and award ceremony.

The two-week course already includes the main excursions:

  • A full day walk around London: a city sightseeing tour OR a visit to KidZania
  • Full day excursion to Oxford
  • A half-day trip to Windsor and Eton College.

The three-week course adds to this list another free day in London (+ visit to the Natural History Museum).

Classic Plus Academy

The program is based on the basic, but is supplemented by sports activities (you can view the list in the "Excursions and activities" section):

  • For 2 weeks = 5 afternoon lessons
  • For 3 weeks = 7 sports.

What is included in the English language course?

  • Classes up to 15 students

What is included in the extracurricular program for 3 weeks?

  • 2 day tours of London: city sightseeing tour OR visit to KidZania, walk on the Ferris wheel London Eye, walk along the Thames by boat
  • Excursion to Oxford for the whole day, a visit to the city's ancient prison
  • Trip to Windsor and Eton College, sightseeing of Windsor Castle (half day)
  • Full day excursion to Thorpe Park (entrance fees included).

The three-week programme adds another full-day tour of London (+ visit to the Natural History Museum) and a full-day excursion to Cambridge.

Premium Plus Academy

The program is based on the basic, but is supplemented by sports activities (you can view the list in the "Excursions and activities" section):

  • For 2 weeks = 5 afternoon lessons
  • For 3 weeks = 7 sports.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Summer camp students are offered accommodation in campus residences: these are the same dormitories that Wellington College students live in during the main academic year. The distance to the campus is a 10-minute quiet walk.

Most of the rooms are single, but there are also for 2-3 people. Each student has at his own bed, wardrobe, desk.  For relaxation there are common living rooms with upholstered furniture, board games, books, TV and DVD, a small kitchen area.

Bed linen is provided (changed weekly), but students must bring their own towels. Laundry is available, cleaning is provided weekly, common areas are provided daily.

Activities Wellington College Summer Camp

During extracurricular hours, students are offered a huge number of interesting extracurricular activities:

  • Welcome and Farewell Party
  • Themed holidays and discos
  • Karaoke
  • Talent Show
  • Treasure Hunt
  • Film screenings
  • Sports games and tournaments: football, basketball, tennis, badminton, volleyball, swimming
  • Dance master classes with professional choreographers.

Courses at Wellington College Summer Camp can be supplemented with options to suit your interests.

Junior Reporter Club

  • Groups of 15-20 people
  • Minimum to start the course: 12 people
  • Price: 35£/person per week.

A program that will allow students to quickly develop communication skills and learn to defend their point of view, opinion (6 additional interactive lessons in 2 weeks).

The mini-course is perfect for those who want to develop their creativity, get new ideas, learn how to work in a team, improve communication skills, communicate and exchange views with peers from around the world. Children will integrate their theoretical skills into practical projects, debates, research, group discussions, using a variety of forms and styles of communication – a valuable practice for the future journalist!

What is the program aimed at?

  • Improvement of creative skills, the ability to work effectively independently and in a team
  • Development of English skills, especially oral and written speech, listening comprehension
  • Development of communicative abilities.

Lesson formats:

  • Group work, discussions
  • Video and photojournalism
  • Interview
  • Presentation
  • Reportage.

The program ends with a presentation of a personal result – a small podcast or an article for a magazine/newspaper.

KidZania Experience

  • Grades of 15-20 students
  • Age: 10-14 years
  • Minimum group to start the course: 15 people
  • Price: 40£/person per week (entrance ticket to KidZania London included, transfer, 6 hours of extra lessons).

Mini-course for teenagers who are already at a young age (10-14 years) want to understand who they should work in the future, what profession to get. What course participants will be able to get and learn:

  • How to start a career?
  • Features, advantages and advantages of different professions. What is required to master each, in what direction you need to work?
  • How to understand, highlight and develop your strengths and talents? What areas of work will reveal them most vividly?
  • What profession will best provide me financially, will allow me to earn well?
  • How to make a budget, financial plan, manage money and risks associated with them
  • How to effectively develop personal and academic skills throughout life? Improvement of communication and speech skills, development of leadership abilities.

The mini-course includes 6 interactive lessons and 4 hours at KidZania London (entrance fees and transfer included), designed for 2 weeks.

Rugby Academy

Rugby classes can complement Plus Academy courses. This is an opportunity to work with professional coaches and learn a new sport - or improve existing skills. Two hours of training are devoted to all basic skills:

  • Passing, passing the ball
  • Game strategy
  • Team tactics
  • Ball control
  • Movement on the field.

Training ends with friendly games and competitions.

What you need to take with you:

  • Sports uniform: T-shirts, shorts/training pants
  • Socks
  • Water bottle
  • Athletic shoes (astroturf on the field): not specialized rugby boots, regular sneakers will suffice.

Football Academy

Another option for filling Plus Academy programs is a football academy. Classes with professional, experienced coaches will allow you to quickly develop all the basic gaming skills and abilities:

  • Pass
  • Strong shooting blow
  • Dribbling
  • Attack and defense on the field
  • Head play
  • Selection of the ball from the opponent.

Training is conducted in groups of 5, 7 and 11 players in the team, the field is grassy. The mini-course ends with friendly games.

What you need to take with you:

  • Sports uniform: T-shirts, shorts/training pants
  • Socks
  • Water bottle
  • Athletic shoes (for Astroturf coverage): not specialized rugby boots, regular sneakers will suffice. Special football boots (with spikes) and shin pads are not mandatory, but are acceptable.

Dance Academy

The third option is to supplement plus Academy courses. Dance lessons are held in different styles, so that each dancer will have the opportunity to prove himself:

  • Salsa
  • Hip Hop
  • Contemporary (modern dance)
  • Jazz.

Mini-course is two lessons of 80 minutes, breaks between them - 20 minutes.

What you need to take with you:

  • Sports uniform: T-shirts, shorts/training pants
  • Socks
  • Water bottle
  • Sports shoes (sneakers).

Facilities and equipment at Wellington College Summer Camp

The campus offers excellent opportunities for sports (especially golf), located at a distance of 20 minutes walk from Crowthorne, where it is easy to find many shops, banks, pharmacies, cafes. The distance to London is about 60 km, to the legendary Windsor is 16 kilometers: you can visit the castle and the magnificent park, the famous Eton College, where Prince William and Prince Harry studied, walk along the banks of the Thames.

Admission dates and extra charges

Course start dates:

  • July 6 and July 27 = programs for 2-3 weeks
  • July 27 = programs for 2 weeks.

The price is not included and is paid separately:

  • Trinity Exam (group of 15 or more, in an accredited centre) = 130£/person
  • Extra night: standard room = £45, with personal amenities = £55
  • Individual lessons (on request) = 70£/lesson
  • Deposit for the safety of things and property in the residence = 50£.

Recommendations on when to apply
