Description of Warminster School

One of the best English boarding schools Warminster School was opened in 1707 and is still true to its historical traditions, rules and charters. The school is located in the south-west of England and includes three training departments:

  • Preparatory school (3-7 years);
  • Primary school (7-11 years old );
  • Middle and High Schools (11-18 years old.)

Warminster School prepares international students for a particularly comfortable atmosphere, where every young student is constantly under the care and supervision of teachers, educators, administrators. Studying in small classes, children study the basic subjects of the school program:

  • History;
  • Geography;
  • English and French;
  • Mathematics;
  • Music;
  • Art.

The curriculum necessarily includes physical training and active games, a lot of entertainment is provided so that the kids easily and comfortably enter the training rhythm of the traditional British school.

In the middle and senior classes, the depth and thoroughness of learning increases substantially, as does the list of disciplines studied. On the Sixth Form, students can choose either the classic British A-level course or the international IB program.

In addition to the intensive academic course, Teachers try to teach students lessons of good behavior, etiquette and correct education, to teach them to behave in modern society. Students develop as harmonious individuals: they develop self-esteem, mutual respect, patience, hard work, perseverance, self-criticism.

Quick overview: A two-year program for secondary school students, which gives an opportunity to obtain a certificate of the General Certificate of Secondary Education on incomplete secondary education. In the future, students can enroll in the Sixth Form programs and the university.

A fairly extensive list of subjects is being studied, of which 8-10 are taken for examination. Some are compulsory:

The rest are chosen as electives - according to the interests, tastes and preferences of a particular student.

For ambitious students, it is possible to undergo an accelerated GCSE course lasting 1 academic year.

Brief information: Classical British pre-university course, designed for 2 academic years and for students 16-18 years. The A-level program allows students to enter even the most elite universities without additional entrance exams and tests - an Advanced Level General Certificate of Education certificate is sufficient with fairly high scores.

For the first year (AS-level), students select 4-5 subjects from a fairly extensive list, the second of which remains only 3-4, on which exams are taken. Such academic concentration allows students to focus on intensive training in the most priority subjects, prepare to enroll in the chosen faculty or specialty.

Quick overview: The universal course of the international baccalaureate is an intensive two-year preparation for the university, which enables international students to enter any university in the world: the IB certificate is highly rated in any country on the planet.

Students choose for themselves 6 academic subjects:

  • 3 studied at the standard level;
  • 3 - on a more complex, in-depth.

In addition, all students attend the theory of knowledge (TOK) course, learn to write an extended academic essay, are trained on the CAS course (Creativity, Service, Activity).

Accommodation, meals, prices

The boarding house (accommodation in residences on campus) is available to students from 7 years and older - both to British nationals and foreign students. A separate house with a capacity of 25 people is designed for students of lower grades, the main boarding houses (for middle and high school students) have rooms for 1-2 and 3-4 people. Typically, personal or double bedrooms are occupied by high school students, Sixth Form students.

Each residence is run by a senior educator - Housemaster or Housemistress - together with a team of assistants. They monitor the observance of cleanliness, order, discipline, help children solve a variety of personal, administrative, academic and everyday issues.

Activities Warminster School

In their free time, students devote a lot of attention to sports - for this, the campus has all the necessary facilities, infrastructure, equipment and coaches. Among the most popular types of activity are the following:

  • Rugby;
  • Football;
  • Netball.

Many students represent the school as part of teams at regional, national and international competitions.

The school maintains the historical traditions of drama and music stage art. Throughout the year there are various performances and concerts, combined performances. Among the musical groups, the direction of jazz and rock is particularly in demand, many students are engaged in classical singing (in choir and solo), and the number of musical instruments available allows everyone to find their sound. The school administration is constantly developing an interesting program of events and celebrations for students. Cadet Corps is working, high school students can compete for the Duke of Edinburgh Prize; Continuing excursions to interesting cities in Britain and abroad. Students take part in charity and volunteer actions, in joint scientific works and projects with schoolchildren from other countries - the whole world is open to them!

The Warminster School Campus is located in the south-west of England, in the suburbs of the small, cozy town of Warminster: it takes an hour and a half to get to Heathrow Airport, just an hour to Bristol. The railway connects Warminster with the English capital: students on weekends often visit London with excursions, visit theaters and cinema.
