The University of Göttingen is a public university with a rich history and outstanding achievements in education and science. Among the graduates and teachers of the university there are 45 Nobel laureates, among the achievements of the university there are important discoveries in psychology, engineering, physics and philosophy.

The university was founded in 1737 and is one of the oldest in Europe. Scientists and teachers of the educational institution were among the first to question the medieval education system, in which theology was given the dominant place. As a result, the University of Göttingen became one of the first secular universities to abandon medieval traditions.

Throughout its rich history, the university has always remained a multidisciplinary one, and today it conducts research in various fields: exact, natural and humanitarian sciences. 13% of the total students are foreign students.

Today, more than 4,000 foreign students study at the university, the total number is 31,500. 3794 specialists work in the university. The ratio of the number of students per teacher is 8 to 1. Thanks to close cooperation, the university created the association U 4, which includes only four universities - Göttingen, Uppsala (Finland), Ghent (Belgium) and the University of Groningen (Netherlands).

Recommendations on when to apply
