The Juilliard School, founded in 1905, is a world leader in the performing arts.   • Dance Bachelor of Fine Arts - A 4-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program teaches dancers in ballet, modern techniques. The program includes a course in the humanities. The dance department usually hosts 24 people per year;
  • Acting Bachelor of Fine Arts - A 4-year actor training program provides extensive training in acting, movement, voice, additional craft aspects, and a wide range of dramatic repertoire. The drama department usually accepts 18 students a year: 8-10 undergraduates and 8-10 undergraduates who will work on a four-year acting program together as a troupe;

  • The Master of Fine Arts is a 4-year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) actor training program that provides intensive training in movement, voice, technique, and other major aspects of the craft and provides the opportunity to apply these skills to a diverse dramatic repertoire. Admission dates and extra charges

Application Dates for the Juilliard School:

  • BFA or MFA - until November 1;
  • AD in Opera Studies - until November 1;
  • AD in Playwriting - until November 15;
  • BFA in Dance - until December 1;
  • All other musical degrees - until December 1.

Some services are paid additionally to tuition fee:

  • Graduation Fee (due December before graduation);
  • Registration fee (required for non-DMA residents);
  • Dorm booking fee;
  • Entrance fee.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Most Juilliard courses do not require standardized test scores or grade ratings for enrollment. The admissions committee will carefully evaluate your academic performance and essays to ensure you have the academic knowledge to succeed.

  • Student must have a high school diploma or equivalent at the time of enrollment;
  • Official transcripts must be sent in due time;
  • The transcripts must be translated into English by a certified translator.

Essay requirements:

  • 1-2 pages, double spaced, 12 point size;
  • Writing language - English (not translated from another language);
  • The essay is the student's own original work;
  • Sent in an online application.

Requirements for knowledge of English:

  • Cambridge English - 169;
  • TOEFL and TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition - 73;
  • TOEFL ITP Plus (China) - 543;
  • IELTS Academic Test and IELTS Indicator - 6;
  • PTE - 49;
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing - 610;
  • ACT - 24.

To earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, student must:

  • Confirm a minimum of three years of prior training in ballet and modern or contemporary dance;
  • Exercise at least 10 hours a week;
  • Provide a video demonstrating dance ability. If the results of the preliminary selection are favorable, they will be invited to participate in the auditions.

Requirements for admission to the magistracy:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent at the time of enrollment;
  • Fluency in English.

Requirements for admission to the Playwriting Artist Diploma:

  • It is advisable that you have a bachelor's degree, higher qualifications equivalent to a bachelor's degree, or outstanding artistic achievement.

Scholarships The Juilliard School of the Arts

The decision to award the scholarship is made by the Juilliard Scholarship Committee upon Admission, based on a combination of financial needs, artistic merit. The school is committed to helping as many students as possible attend Juilliard classes. Students can expect to receive the same scholarship every year, provided they re-apply on time and demonstrate satisfactory academic performance.
