What do parents typically consider when choosing a school, in addition to teacher qualifications?

Parents have various criteria. If choosing a more affordable private school, ensure it's genuinely high-quality. Location, overall expenses, cultural programs, boarding house conditions, and level of care should be considered. Once narrowed down to a few schools, it's beneficial to meet and communicate with their representatives and form a personal opinion.

Educational process

As part of their high school education, all students participate in the Community Service Program (CSP), giving them the opportunity to participate in a number of rewarding projects each year. Students must achieve at least the following metrics:

  • Freshmen — 10 hours,
  • Sophomores — 10 hours,
  • Juniors – 20 hours,
  • Seniors — 20 hours.

The Community Service Project gives students the opportunity to learn more about themselves in the context of a larger community. At the end of the project, students complete a final assignment in which they reflect on their experiences and describe the challenges they faced and their impact on their lives.

For students enrolled in the two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, the Creative, Active and Service (CAS) course is a prerequisite that reinforces and expands what students learn in the classroom. The CAS program begins in the first year of study and lasts at least 18 months: students take part in various social events, develop their own project in the field they like.

Review about TASIS the American International School in England

Anastasia
(26.10.2023)
They sent a child here for a summer program to learn English. The child really liked both the program and the school. This was our first experience of visiting a summer camp in England, before that we were only in Cyprus. The child said that school and education in England are very different from the camps in which he had been before. I liked the school grounds. On the territory there are sports grounds and halls, a swimming pool, and all this can be freely used. I really liked the excursions. We saw almost all the sights of London. I also liked the training itself, my son said that the teaching was more serious than in the camp in Cyprus.

A child was transferred here from an American school in Cyprus, as he was no longer satisfied with the quality of teaching in the previous school. We are very pleased that we chose this option. Good quality teaching and wonderful teachers. There is also a developed community of parents, which helped a lot in the first year, as parents whose children have been in school for a long time actively help the "newcomers".

Children from the American school TASIS in Switzerland were transferred here, as they moved to England for work. The curriculum is completely similar to that of a Swiss school. The territory and the atmosphere in the school itself are different. I can say that in Switzerland the atmosphere is more relaxed, and the emphasis is not only on studying, but also on sports and extracurricular activities. Here, just more attention is paid to studying. Homework is asked more and teachers are more demanding.

My son is in his second year at TASIS. He was transferred here from a British school, as the child expressed a desire to enter a university in the United States. The first year was quite difficult, as it was necessary to completely rebuild to the American program, which is still significantly different from British education. Now it's much easier. This is partly due to the teachers at Tacis. The teachers here are very caring, and try to help children really understand the material, and not just formally conduct a lesson. Special thanks to the chemistry teacher. Only here the child was able to understand and love this subject.

(review about school Tasis the American school England)

Magnificent school: we chose it already three years ago and still have not regretted it a bit.

Planned to study in America, but in the end we chose England. However, Smapse consultants found us an option to study in England according to the program of the American sample: this is very convenient, since we still choose a university in the USA.

This is a boarding school, where students are learning and living. Such an option seems convenient to us: everything is close, you do not need to spend time on the road from / to school, and the general “immersion” into the studying is easier. The territory is very spacious, beautiful, well-groomed: there is where just to walk, and lie on the grass. Good residences for students: we had an opportunity to come on an introductory visit to the Open Day, so how were the parents appreciated everything personally. The huge library is even more like in a university. Everything is equipped with computers, there are no problems with access to any equipment at all, everything is for children.

Teachers are strong: we go for a good certificate, although, of course, we have to work a lot for this. However, the plus is that everyone is ready to help: they will pick up the book in the library, and additional lessons can be taken, and all sorts of consulting projects - just learn. I liked very much that here every high school student has a personal curator (here is a tutor): this is the person who prepares for graduation and entry. That is, not a subject teacher, but more a consultant, but very useful: you can literally ask how to draw up the application forms.

We are very pleased with the course, and especially with the choice of the school - thanks to the consultant Ekaterina.
