Talbot Heath School was founded in 1886 and at the time of its founding was in the center of Bournemouth - it was called the Bournemouth High School. In 1935 the school moved closer to the border of the city, in a prestigious and fashionable area, and got its modern name. The city of Bournemouth is on the coast, in the southern region of England; The road to London will take about an hour and a half.

Talbot Heath School presents to its pupils very high academic requirements - this allows it to be one of the most prestigious boarding schools in England. Most of the graduates successfully enter the chosen university, even from among the most prestigious and rating ones (for example, Oxford and Cambridge). The educational institution is a valid and active member of the Association of Schools for Girls, as well as the Board of Directors of Secondary Schools.

Training is conducted at three levels:

  • Preparatory classes - 7-13 years;
  • GCSE - 14-16 years;
  • A-level - 16-18 years.

The curriculum fully complies with the standards of the national education system, correlates with the preparation for entering universities, passing subject or language examinations. Experienced, qualified teachers and small classes (up to 6 people in each) support effective training and a personal approach.

Brief information: A-level program for international students is designed for 2 years.

About the educational program: students can choose subjects from a fairly wide and extensive list. As a rule, when choosing, they are guided not only by personal interests, but also by the requirements of the chosen institution of higher education, the specific character of the chosen profession. In the first year of study, 4 disciplines are thoroughly studied, for the second year - 3. At the end of the each year the students should pass exams.

Accommodation, meals, prices

There are 2 hostels for the international students: the junior class occupy large rooms for 8 people (from 9 to 13 years old), secondary school students - large rooms with partitions, and high school students are accommodated in private bedrooms. There are shower rooms and bathrooms, toilets on each floor in a sufficient number. Together with the girls in the residence, educators live: they monitor the order, the observance of cleanliness and discipline, are responsible for the safety of girls, and also form a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, so that the students feel happy and adapt more quickly to school conditions.

Spacious common dining room thrice a day gathers students - nutrition balanced, varied, fully meets all the needs of the child and adolescent organism. There are also dishes for vegetarians, Muslim women, representatives of the Jewish faith.

Subjects and sports

Facilities and equipment at Talbot Heath School

The main building is of historical value and is an exemplary example of architectural modernism. Also, Talbot Heath School is rightfully proud of its huge library, most of which consists of works on history, rare books and unique editions.

The curriculum pays much attention to musical pursuits and the creative development of pupils. The concert hall was opened in 1986 by Princess Anna herself - concerts and performances are held here every two weeks. The priority of the institution is a comprehensive, harmonious development of the individual: along with fundamental general subjects and scientific disciplines, economics, technology and computer design, etiquette, aesthetics are taught here. There are workshops for art and a separate theater studio.

Talbot Heath School operates a modern center of foreign languages: you can choose to study Russian, Italian, German, French, Spanish.  There is all the necessary equipment: linguaphone, interactive, computer and multimedia.

The sports infrastructure is also excellent and varied: there are multipurpose fields and outdoor areas, a multifunctional sports center, a spacious outdoor pool (classes are held from April to October), courts with excellent coverage. There are more than enough opportunities for sports and physical development: one can practice even exotic species such as karate and yoga. Students in teams often participate in competitions, win and take prizes.

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year is divided into traditional trimesters, interspersed with vacations for students' leisure:

  • Autumn: from September 3-4 to December 11 (holidays from October 26 to October 30);
  • Spring : From 5 January to 18 March (holidays from 15 to 19 February);
  • Summer: 12 April - 1-5 July (holidays from 30 May to 3 June).

The cost of one trimester of study is:

  • 3 class = 5836 £ / trimester, 17508 £ / academic year;
  • Grade 4 = 6237 £ / term , 18711 £ / academic year;
  • 5th grade = 6641 £ / trimester, 19923 £ / academic year;
  • 6th grade = 6863 £ / term, 20589 £ / academic year;
  • 7-13 grades = 7650 £ / term, 22950 £ / academic year.
