Studying Oil & Gas Industry in Cyprus for foreign students

Studying Oil & Gas Industry in Cyprus for foreign students

Research in the field of mining, oil and gas at the universities of Cyprus includes all operations related to the exploration, evaluation, extraction of minerals, metals, oil and fuel. Mining engineers investigate minerals, are responsible for planning, supervising the construction of mines.

Petroleum engineers and gas engineers estimate the reserves of crude oil, gas, observe drilling operations. Professional engineers in these areas are involved in all stages of production – from discovery and feasibility study, optimization of production, construction, maintenance of mines, wells to crew safety, environmental impact assessment.

It is expected that the discovery of oil and gas fields in the economic zone of Cyprus will lead to the creation of new companies and job growth. Vacancies will fall into three related categories:

  • Professional workers - mechanics, welders, plumbers, electricians, specializing in the oil and gas and auxiliary industries.
  • Business managers and executives with a deep understanding of the oil and gas and ancillary industries
  • Scientifically oriented technical staff with degrees in chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, biology, geology; high-level technical/engineering staff for various operational technologies and processes.

Education in oil and gas engineering in Cyprus offers very good career opportunities. Energy consumption around the world is growing steadily, it is expected that investments in drilling, development of energy resources – gas, oil – will continue. Thus, the prospects for global employment and employment in Cyprus are promising. Graduates of the Master's program can be employed in a number of sectors, including offshore exploration, refineries, onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, chemical industry, and research.

Cyprus is a Mediterranean island that attracts foreign students with affordable living costs, low tuition fees, and a high level of education. English is widely spoken due to the large number of tourists visiting the island. Students will enjoy the sunny weather almost all year round, explore the beautiful beaches, discover the ancient history of this multicultural country.

University of Nicosia

The University of Nicosia is one of the leading universities in Cyprus with the study of oil and gas.

The UNIC Research Center is focused on major interdisciplinary research projects that affect the field of extractive energy.

The university has played an important role in the internationalization of higher education in Cyprus and throughout the region. Academic programs are focused on the needs of the global working world with a particular focus on the rapidly changing technological environment.

The lively university campus is one of the most dynamic, attractive residential urban campuses in the Mediterranean, with 20 modern university buildings and more than 70 restaurants, shops, bars, lounges nearby.

The University of Nicosia offers undergraduate and graduate programs with the study of oil and gas.

Energy, Oil and Gas Management (Bachelor, 4 years)

The program provides students with general knowledge in the field of energy, oil and gas management. The course is designed to prepare future junior executives, business managers for the developing oil and gas industry in Cyprus. Graduates will be qualified in the fields of management, economics, law, technology, will be able to work effectively in this developing industry.

The proposed bachelor's degree allows you to gain knowledge, understanding of oil and gas technologies and energy management skills. The curriculum gives students theoretical and practical knowledge, research and analytical skills, an understanding of business processes and management processes necessary for career development in the oil and gas industry.
