Queen Margaret's School in York is a private boarding school for girls from 11 to 18 years old. They attend classes throughout the academic year, and short courses are held on campus for students of either gender during the summer months. Students spend two to four weeks on campus, attending intensive English classes and improving their skills in the topic of their chosen course: leadership or communication.

The course is a fusion of intensive English lessons and exciting adventures. The program of the 14-day stay includes:

  • 30 hours of training,
  • Full-day excursions to York, Whitby, Liverpool,

  • Full board with three meals a day.

If a student chooses to study for 21 days, he will have access to:

Lessons are held in small classes of up to 15 people. The atmosphere in the groups can be described as comfortable and effective, as students are combined in age and level of knowledge, so they help each other and maintain communication outside the school classrooms.

Events on campus help students, regardless of age, to unite, get acquainted and learn about the culture of different peoples, because representatives of many countries come to the programs.

Accommodation, meals, prices

On the campus of Queen Margaret's School there is a modern boarding house, which accommodates students of summer programs. Each residential building is unique in the arrangement of rooms: single, double and multi-bed rooms in the format of apartments, shared bathrooms in a ratio of 1: 5 rooms, recreation and self-study areas. There are also small houses on the territory, in which small groups of students already familiar with each other can settle.

The full board format includes not only a comfortable dormitory, but also three meals a day. Students visit the cafeteria at scheduled times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Activities Queen Margaret's Summer School in York

The curriculum includes a variety of activities both on and off campus. Students can devote their free time to creative master classes, social activity, sports competitions, or just relax in the dormitory. Over the course of two weeks, the children will embark on a four-day trip to York, Whitby and Liverpool to explore the culture, language and local attractions.

Every evening on campus is different from the rest - all students come together for themed discos, board or video games, talent shows or culinary events. One evening, they are invited to take care of the environment by participating in the cleaning of the school grounds.

The campus is located in a small village about a 20-minute drive from York. The educational area is adjacent to cozy streets with shops and green areas for walking. The school covers an area of almost 75 acres of parkland and provides a quiet place to live and study. Spacious classrooms, sports grounds and halls, studios for communication and master classes meet modern trends in education.

Admission dates and extra charges

Students can choose the duration of study that suits them: 14 or 21 days of permanent stay on campus. The 14-day program includes 30 hour-long lessons and four field trips, while the 21-day program includes 46 academic lessons and eight trips.

Enrolment process

Candidates can go through the admission process completely remotely by filling out the registration form and providing the required documents. The admissions committee will contact applicants in turn, accepting them until the vacant places in the groups run out.

After receiving a positive response from a school employee, the future student must obtain a visa, it is advisable to visit the campus for a small test. The test will test the initial skills of the English language, according to its results, children are determined in groups suitable for them by age and knowledge.

Perspectives

At the end of the education, a ceremony is held for graduates, at which certificates and progress reports are awarded: they will perfectly complement the individual portfolio and help students avoid some entrance tests when entering a school, college or university.

Children from 10 to 15 years old are accepted for education. Upon admission, you must provide:

The level of knowledge of the English language is not important, since students are divided into groups suitable for them: from A1 to C2.
