Felsted School was founded in 1564, the founder of the school was Baron Richard Rich, who served under King Edward VI as Lord Chancellor. Today it is in the east of England in Essex County in the small town of Felstead, near the legendary University Cambridge and London. The road to Stansted International Airport takes just 15 minutes, and Heathrow and Gatwick can be reached in 1.5 hours. LEAP Course was created to improve the level of the English language and overcome the language barrier, full adaptation to new conditions, adaptation in the British educational environment is provided.

There is a special program for gifted students, and there is also a studying option for children with difficulties in mastering subjects and disciplines. Summer language camp

Summer language camp will help students not only to improve language studying significantly, but also to become more self-confident, to show their talents and abilities, to learn to communicate with representatives of other countries and cultures and, finally, to have fun time!

Every day there are 3 general gatherings (after breakfast, after classes and before bedtime) - this allows not only to closely monitor students, their location on campus, but also in time to inform them about the upcoming activities during the day and week. Also during the meetings there are students who have achieved significant results in academic, creative or sports activities: such encouragement evokes the spirit of healthy competition, the desire to achieve higher goals.

Students of the summer camp live on a full board basis - comfortable rooms and meals three times a day, balanced, tasty and varied are provided. In addition, light evening snacks are provided - this will help students not go to bed hungry after evening activities or sports.

Staying in the summer camp will help you to meet new friends from all over the world. Here, communication of pupils with each other, mutual pastime and mutual assistance is encouraged in every way: senior help younger ones, already experienced boarders - beginners.

The course is selected based on the initial level of knowledge: there are options for beginners who are poorly proficient in English, and for "advanced" students. The students are divided into groups on the first day of the beginning of the classes (usually Monday), after the introductory testing. Classes are formed small so that students can feel comfortable, and teachers can give each child the maximum attention and care. Beginners will learn the basics of grammar and vocabulary of the English language, develop communication skills, spoken English and listening skills. Experienced students can effectively prepare for exams and language tests, learn to analyze poetic and prosaic texts in English, and learn the basics of literary composition. During the day there are several breaks and big changes: students can relax, have a snack, go in for sports or chat with new friends.

The main direction of education in summer programs is English language, literature and writing skills. Additionally the following educational directions are offered:

  • Scientific

The duration of the course is from 1 to 4 weeks - each week students learn a new topic. The main directions are natural sciences: chemistry, physics and biology. Students are expected to have a lot of practice and laboratory work, analytical and research work, projects, and all studying is conducted in an interesting format with a lot of interactive and live communication. In case of successful completion of the course, students can get a prestigious CREST certificate, which will serve as an additional advantage when entering a college or university.

  • Mathematical

The Summer Academy of Mathematics is a real find for students gifted in the exact sciences and interested in this field of knowledge. Classes are conducted by experienced teachers and students of the profile direction of Cambridge, which create interesting and non-standard tasks, assignments, projects and research for pupils. Also this version of the course is perfect for students who want to improve their skills, to deepen and refresh knowledge before the start of a new semester, to improve their academic performance during the main academic year.

  • Culture and art

There is a huge number of practical classes - students learn the chosen direction of art and creativity by working in studios and workshops. Students will work with a wide variety of materials: glass, plastic, clay, mirrors, pastels, paints under the guidance of sensitive and professionhal teachers who have extensive experience working with students at IB and A-level programs. By the end of each week, students perform one of the small creative projects, and the result - an object of art created by the student himself - can be taken home.

The duration of the course is from 1 week, it is recommended to use at least a 2-week course (maximum duration is 4 weeks).

  • Physical culture and sports

Ideal for students who want to improve not only their language skills, but also their physical shape. Students attend studying in rugby, cricket, hockey, tennis - in short, the most popular sports in traditional British boarding schools. With the children there are professional instructors who guarantee the safety of the pupils and the correctness of the exercises, help to develop game techniques, physical strength and endurance.

  • Pre-IB (preparation for International Baccalaureate)

This course will help students to prepare for the IB program - to improve their English language and knowledge of basic academic disciplines, to fill in learning gaps, and to update existing information. In addition, students will be able to prepare for the CAS exam - to get acquainted with its structure, subtleties and features, to overcome the psychological barrier before testing.

  • Performing skills.

This program is the most popular and intensive - the number of places on the course is limited to 20 participants, therefore it is recommended to submit the application as much as possible in advance.
Children will master acting and dramatic art under the direction of one of the best theater figures in England and the UK. This course was developed in collaboration with The National Theater, Royal Court Theater, Bush Theater, Hampstead Theater and Sydney Theater Company under the guidance of Max Stafford-Clark. Classes are held every day from 13:00 to 17:00 - students are preparing a big show, which will be shown on the last day of the shift.

Students study in several ways:

  • Methods of playing professional actors and receptions of famous theatrical figures;
  • Studying the history of the theater, the principles and laws of its work;
  • The study of the methods of Max Stafford-Clark;
  • Interaction with theater workshops, artists, screenwriters and decorators;
  • Development of their abilities, the disclosure of talent and potential.

Several key matches are required from students of this course:

  • Good, advanced level of English;
  • Interest in theatrical life, interest in the history of the theater, its features and laws;
  • Enthusiasm and sincere desire to develop their talents;
  • Knowledge of the main English and British plays and playwrights.

EDUCATIONAL COST AND ADDITIONAL COSTS

The summer camp works for 4 weeks. Programs of 2.3 and 4 weeks duration are provided.

In addition, students can add to their course useful and interesting electives: horse riding, lessons at the Academy of Dance or professional hockey studying. Please note that the number of seats is limited, there are also national quotas - you apply as early as possible to guarantee a place on the chosen course.

The indicated price already includes:

  • Accommodation and meals (full board, meals three times a day + evening snacks and snacks);
  • Excursions and sightseeing trips (within a week - 1 half-day and 1 a day);
  • A complete guarantee of children's safety, supervision of pupils 24/7;
  • Laundry service;
  • All sports and leisure activities (except for those stipulated for an additional price - golf, horse riding, etc.);
  • All textbooks, books and materials;
  • Initial testing on arrival;
  • Full report on academic performance and company certificate at the end of the course.

Also included in the tuition fee is a transfer on specified days (Sunday from 8:00 to 17:00) - students are expected at Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick and Southend airports.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Children who prefer boarding accommodation occupy cozy and comfortable residences: for pupils from 9 and 13 years there are different houses, 2 separate homes are reserved for high school students, and one - for the youngest students. A total of 10 dormitories have been built, of which 2 are designed for rest of full-time students. Fully equipped and furnished cozy rooms for 2-4 people are provided, there are living rooms for relaxation withTV and the Internet, its own small student kitchen and library. There educators live together with the children, who guarantee the complete safety of students, monitor the maintenance of cleanliness and discipline.

During resettlement, the gender and age of the pupils are taken into account - the boys live separately from the girls. Each residence is designed for 60 people.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Students applying for a place in the Preparatory School can apply for 10-12 years, for a place in the Senior School - from 13 to 16 years. Applications submitted outside of the regular time of admission can be considered if there are seats on the chosen program.

Students entering the 9-10 academic year must pass the entrance test and go through a personal interview, as well as show a report card with grades for the last three years. Applicants of grade 12 must additionally provide a GCSE certificate or equivalent (it should include a minimum of 5 B grades in different subjects).
