Liverpool Hope University is a public research university that provides undergraduate and postgraduate training, located in Liverpool; In 2023, it received a "silver" rating as part of the UK Government's Systematic Assessment of Teaching Quality (TEF).

Liverpool Hope University was founded in 1844 as Warrington Training College, the second in the diocese of Chester: according to the idea of the episcopate, it was to train teachers for primary schools. 12 years later, in 1856, the sister society of Notre-Dame de Namur established a new institution, the Pedagogical College of Our Lady, where girls were also taught. Finally, almost 70 years later, in 1930, a third college opened in Warington, named after St. Catherine. At the same time, two universities, Manchester and Liverpool, formed a commission to conduct certification, which united a dozen and a half teacher training colleges in Lancaster, Greater Manchester and three other counties. This was the beginning of the unification of teacher training standards in the United Kingdom. After numerous reforms, the three colleges were granted associate status with the University of Liverpool and by 1974 were fully integrated into its administrative and management structure. It took another five years to bring it all together under the umbrella of the Liverpool Institute of Higher Education, although the entire governing apparatus was completely reformatted by 1990. Five years later, the college became a university college, receiving the name Liverpool Hope University College; At the same time, the administration bought the campus of the closed St. Francis Xavier School in Everton, where it was planned to build a creative building.

In 2002, Liverpool Hope University received a charter from the Privy Council and began awarding degrees, and in 2009 it took on its current name. In 2015, the institution was recognized, appearing for the first time in the national ranking of higher education according to the Guardian, and four years later in the Times Higher Education.

  • Over the past 20 years, investments in the university's infrastructure have exceeded £140 million;
