Pre-A-level

The preparatory program will effectively prepare students for admission to a full-fledged two-year A-level course in September! It is recommended to pass the full, 8-week preparatory course (almost the whole summer trimester), but the specific booking depends on the desires and capabilities of each student. The course is not suitable for beginners: when enrolling, you need to demonstrate the level of English from B2 (IELTS from 5.0 and above).

In the list of basic compulsory subjects - English language and drama; in addition to them, students choose 3-5 electives (each is paid 3 hours weekly):

Pre-IB

A summer academic program will help students prepare for the IB program, even if they intend to do so in the next September. A full course takes 8 weeks: it is enough to fully adapt to the new academic, linguistic, domestic and cultural conditions, addictive to life in the British boarding school. The requirements for applicants mainly relate to the level of English: each student must confirm the level from B2 (IELTS from 5.0 and above).

Students are engaged 5 days a week, from Monday to Friday, 4 lessons each day (1 lesson = 1.5 hours). Classes are formed up to 16 people in each (usually 12-13), the ratio of teachers to students is 1: 3. The summer academic course consists of several large blocks:

1) Learning English

At least students spend 10 hours a week in English. All major, key language skills and abilities are being improved comprehensively:

  • Auditing (listening comprehension)
  • Vocabulary (active expansion of vocabulary)
  • Written speech
  • Oral speech (spoken English)

2) Dramatic and theatrical art

These classes are also attended by all students without exception: they are given at least 2 lessons per week for 1.5 hours each. Dramatic arts classes help students become more self-confident, learn to speak before the public and sharpen the skills of the English language, develop aesthetic and literary taste. At the end of each shift a big theatrical and musical production is organized, in which all the children take part.

3) Academic subjects

Each student should choose 3-5 subjects, included in the main list of academic disciplines according to the British standard:

4) Development of personal qualities and skills

Students are taught to be more independent and responsible, develop leadership skills and ability to work in a team, tolerance, mutual understanding and mutual respect. Board meals are organized in the common dining room: hot dishes, fresh salads, appetizing snacks, desserts and pastries appear on the tables of students daily 3 times a day. On Sundays, students are allowed to sleep longer, so breakfast and lunch are combined in a late brunch + dinner. If students go on a long excursion or on a trip, everyone is provided with a full lunch-box. On request, you can organize an individual diet: vegetarian, hypoallergenic, etc. (possibly for an additional fee).

There is a shop on the territory with sweets, drinks, snacks and sandwiches. A stock of food and drinks, fresh fruit is always in the residences: students can prepare their favorite dishes or something for tea in the common kitchens, under the supervision of educators. Noisy and fun are celebrated all the birthdays and holidays: these days cakes and other sweets that children like so much.

The school has its own medical center: a qualified nurse is on duty every day, plus all the staff and teachers are able to provide first-aid. In the event of a more serious injury or illness the student is hospitalized in the nearest clinic. All parents are obliged to take care of full medical insurance, indicate chronic diseases and allergies, a list of medicines taken by student.
