Description of LAL Brighton Summer Language Camp

LAL Brighton Summer Language Camp is a new summer camp in the international LAL network. It opened its doors to students in 2015. LAL Brighton operates at the American Express Community Stadium. Within walking distance from the language school there are the University of Brighton, University of Sussex. The first provides the students of the summer camp with a sports infrastructure for classes, the second - a residence.

In the language school, students are offered a combined program with a sporting bias. Here, foreign students can improve English and play football. At the lessons with students there are highly qualified teachers, who are native speakers. Classes are conducted by reputable athletes. Holidays in LAL Brighton - an excellent opportunity to pull up English, relax, have fun, find new friends, get acquainted with the legends of British football.

Standard English course

Short information about a general language course for students wishing to improve their skills in an English-speaking environment.

The program provides for a complete immersion in the language environment. Students learn English in class and improve their skills during sports, out-of-class entertainment, sightseeing. The emphasis in learning process is on communicative English. But the academic program is not limited to the development of speech. Students at the lessons study vocabulary, grammar, practice in listening, reading, writing.

  • Student age: 12 to 17 years.
  • Start dates: 02.07 - 13.08.
  • Admission requirements: the level of English - from beginner.
  • The result of the studying: improving communicative English, getting acquainted with the most interesting and significant sights of Britain.
  • Class size: 15 students.
  • Lesson duration: 45 minutes.

The price includes testing to determine the level of English proficiency, studying (materials are provided), residence, food, insurance (tourist, medical), excursion support, transfer from and to the airport, LAL certificate.

Additional course "Goal!"

Short information about special course for those who want to get acquainted with British football.

The program is available to all students of the basic English course. It provides one excursion to the stadium in a week and 4 football exercises sessions. Additionally, students can visit the stadiums of Chelsea or Wembley.

  • Students age: 12 to 17 years old.
  • Start dates: 03.07 - 07.08.
  • Requirements for enrollment: English - at the level of A1 and above.
  • The result of the studying: improving the skills of playing football and spoken English.
  • The size of the class: 15 students.
  • Lesson duration: 45 minutes

The cost of the program includes football exercises, excursions to stadiums.

Leadership Summer School

University Taster Summer School

University Taster Summer School is a program that gives you the opportunity to "taste" the education in higher education in Britain. In 2 weeks, students will get acquainted with the English academic environment and universities, learn about the features of admission to universities and basic language requirements. Summer school for children from 11 to 17 years old with an English level from A1. These are English lessons + various on-line activities for children.

Perhaps the full version of the program (from Mon to Fri, 15 hours of classes per week) or the light version (classes 2 days a week for 2 hours).

On-line activities for children: See the World, Street View Scavengers, Geek Challenge, Selfie World, Brain Food, LAL Physical, etc.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students are offered accommodation in a residence on the campus of the University of Sussex. In the hostel, students are offered single rooms in small apartment blocks. Facilities are in general use at the rate of one sanitary room for 4 people. Also in the residence there are single rooms with bathrooms.

Meals for students are provided three times a day. The menu consists of traditional European dishes. By agreement, dietary, vegetarian meals are possible.

Subjects and sports

Activities LAL Brighton Summer Language Camp

The extracurricular program includes daytime, evening activities. The latter pass both on the territory of the summer camp, and beyond. Students are offered to participate in show programs, parties, film screenings, discos, and etc. In the afternoon, sports sections are available, Brighton walks, beach holidays and shopping are organized.

The program at LAL Brighton also includes exciting excursions. Weekly, students are offered 2 trips, included in the cost of the courses. Additional excursions are available in unlimited quantities. Among the popular directions the greatest interest is caused by:

  • Tower of London and South Bank (a day excursion with a visit to the most interesting sights of the British capital).
  • Canterbury (a tour to historical places, a visit to the cathedral, shopping and etc).
  • Brighton Wheel (city tour, calculated for half a day).
  • Toy Museum in Brighton (students will see a unique collection of more than 10,000 exhibits from different eras).
  • Royal pavilion, known as the "British Taj Mahal".
  • Portsmouth (an excursion to the naval port for half a day).
  • Thorpe Park. 

Students from the summer camp can also visit the famous museums of London, Windsor, and other interesting places.

Daily routine

Lessons take place until 12:00 at the school. After lunch, students are offered sports programs, entertainment, excursions. From 19:00 evening events begin. On weekends there are organized field trips, that usually take 5 - 9 hours (with the road).

Facilities and equipment at LAL Brighton Summer Language Camp

Classes at the school are held in modern, equipped with interactive equipment classrooms. For students a computer class is opened with free access to Wi-Fi. On the territory of the summer camp, Wi-Fi is also available. For relaxation there is a cozy living room. The sports infrastructure is represented by an athletic complex, a football field, tennis courts.
